Dark Side Of Social Media That Nobody knows!
Dark side of social media

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and more are often blamed for creating a culture of narcissism and self-centeredness. While some studies argue that these sites are bad for society, others say they are positive because they allow us to connect across borders and cultures.
Facebook alone has over 2 billion active users worldwide. These sites create a sense of belonging and community, but they also encourage competition and narcissistic behavior. The question is whether or not this is good or bad. Facebook is estimated to host over 2.4 billion accounts worldwide. In fact, Facebook alone hosts nearly 40% of the entire global population. This means that anyone who wants to influence the opinions of millions of individuals can easily do so through social media networks.
This article explores two sides of the argument: those who believe social media helps develop empathy and understanding between people, and those who think it encourages excessive consumerism and narcissism.
Social media has become a part of our lives. It’s where we share, connect, and engage with each other. But did you know that social media platforms can also be used for nefarious purposes? Social Media Manipulation (SMM) refers to using algorithms or bots to manipulate public opinion towards a specific purpose.1. Fake followers
Social media platforms have changed the way we communicate. People use their platforms to connect with each other, share stories, and gain inspiration. However, many people use these platforms to make money.
Social media sites offer “influencers” the chance to earn money by promoting products they believe in. These influencers can make thousands of dollars per month simply by liking brands on Facebook and posting about them. To get those likes, some influencers pay others to follow them on Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter, YouTube, etc. This practice is called “fake follower”.
2. Scamming
People who engage in scamming do not care if the product they promote is legitimate. Their goal is to take advantage of the trust people put in brands and businesses online. When people purchase something from someone they don’t know, they want to feel safe. If a brand does not deliver what was promised, scammers often try to steal money from customers. In order to keep scams under wraps, social media companies have started implementing programs designed to detect fake accounts.
3. Cyberbullying
Cyberbullying refers to bullying that happens over digital networks, such as the Internet. Victims of cyberbullying may experience physical symptoms like anxiety, depression, and headaches. Cyberbullies may post negative comments about victims online or send threatening messages via text message, phone calls, or instant messaging apps. Both parties need to understand that cyberbullying is a serious problem that requires action. Parents should teach children how to deal with bullies, especially when they go after someone online.
4. Pornography
Pornography is widely available online and easily accessible. Many people use social media to look at pornography. Unfortunately, some porn stars post pictures of themselves without underwear or clothes on. This type of content can lead to sexual harassment and assault. Companies like Google and Pinterest have taken steps to prevent pornography from being displayed on their websites.
5. Hate speech
Hate speech is language that attacks groups based on race, religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, nationality, sexual orientation, or age. You may think hate speech is only spoken among adults, but young people can be influenced by hateful speech. Children learn from their parents and peers what is acceptable behavior. Parents should encourage children to speak out against hate speech on social media and in real life.
There are several ways SMM can be used for malicious purposes. For example, political parties can use social media services to spread misinformation, mislead voters, or even create fake news.
