Affiliate Marketing
Amazon Associates vs Wealthy Affiliates

Affiliate marketing in a nutshell is “the process of earning a commission by promoting other people’s (or companies’) products. You find a product you like, promote it to others, and earn a piece of the profit for each sale that you make”- Pat Flynn. Affiliate marketing can be tricky if you don’t know what products to market and how to get the necessary amount of traffic to your site but once you figure that part out it is definitely a gift that gives keeps on giving.
There are multiple companies like Amazon, eBay, Shopify and many more that allow you to be their affiliate for free. One of the reasons why I personally love affiliate marketing is that you’ll be linked with companies that have already gained the trust of customers. You’ll be referring people to buy items that are already selling without your help. Furthermore, it helps you create a passive income that can substitute a full time job with part-time efforts.
If you are a person who wants to generate extra income yet never found the time to do so, then I suggest you explore this option. Or if you are a person who wants to spend more time with their loved ones or do the things you love (no pun intended here) while making enough to support your current lifestyle, this might be the thing you have been looking for. Often you work hard for your money, affiliate marketing allows your money to work hard for you.
If you are considering affiliate marketing, there are two sites I would confidently recommend to a beginner. The first one is called Wealthy Affiliate and the second is Amazon Associates. Both sites are free to join and there are multiple free trainings to show you how to be successful using them.
Wealthy Affiliate gives you access to multiple programs that have an affiliate system. You can choose any niche and they’ll have many products you can market. Their commission rate is also higher than the amazon affiliate program. They also provide you with a community that is able to answer your questions almost immediately. The community is made up of people that are at the same level as you as well as well those who have been in the business for many years. I have provided a link below so you can check it out yourself.
They offer a starter package which gives you access to free trainings and a premium membership which gives you access to live trainings and over 400 hours of pre-recorded trainings. Regardless of which package you choose you will have a great selection of products you can promote.

What I love about the Amazon Affiliate program is that you have very little convincing to do since amazon is a very credible site. They pay you commission on the product you refer plus whatever the person buys while on the site. You will be compensated for providing a hook to get them to the amazon website. Like Wealthy Affiliates, amazon gives you access to multiple products to refer and earn commissions on.
The only part I don’t like about Amazon’s affiliate program is that the commission rate is low. The average commission rate is about 4% which is not very profitable if the product you chose sells for under $100. Hence, you need to make sure that you have done the appropriate amount of research before you decide on a niche. There are numerous paid and free courses you can take to show you how you can earn more as an amazon affiliate. There also books that provide you with step by step guidelines. I will make sure to put down resources you can check out to get a more comprehensive idea on how to set up your business.

Affiliate marketing is a great way to create passive income and become your own boss. However, it is by no means a rout you can achieve financial freedom through over-night. It requires research, creativity, time and commitment. You don’t need to invest a lot of money to set up your business but it is empirical to understand that, as per any business, it requires time to flourish.
