5 Steps of Effective Writing Process

Everything in this world comes to existence step by step. Writing process is also no exception for it. You can split out your writing process in 4 different steps, which helps you to ease your writing process.

Following a writing process made me well discipline and prolific as a writer. It helps you to write a clear and effective article which can help readers

1. Prewriting

It is the initial process of writing. When you pick up one idea, you need to read more content and research articles about it, so you can send a clear message to readers. We know this process as prewriting.

When I work on my writing idea, I google it or read research articles just typing ' idea name research' on google. I Read-research pieces note them down, in my laptop.

Quora and HubPages are wonderful sources of getting writing ideas and points. I use them frequently. In the pre-writing stage, you must ensure 

What is your article's key idea?

What is your message of teaching?

You have evidence for a fact used in the article

You have outlined your article

You have taken notes from the research process

Creating an outline for the article helped me to write my story within deadlines. It not only makes you fast, but also gives flow to your article.

The research-based and evidence-based article always look better and engaging. Prewriting helps you to remove your writer block and speed up your writing process.

2.Make your first draft

After the pre-writing phase, start writing your draft without editing and thinking much. Write what's comes in your mind. You don't need to worry about clarity and preciseness.

Writing the first draft and then editing it later helps the writer to write with the flow and make the article more informative. 

Try to add all research points and notes in your draft. Don't edit and write simultaneously. 

Finishing draft in flow with ideas and research makes the article better for the reader. It is a soft process to write an article. It helps to finish my writing work before deadline.

3. Revising

In the Revising process, the writer removes unwanted paragraphs and words also check all points covered or not.

After writing an article with the flow of thoughts, the writer must read it once and remove all boring paragraphs and useless sentence in articles.

I also cut repeating paragraphs conveying the same meaning, which makes the article boring. I remove it or edit paragraphs by adding new information.

In revising phase, you can add new points to make your claims valid and edit and cut sentence. Also, you can check whether the article is conveying your all points in prewriting phase or not.

Revising article make it precise and increase its readability score.

4. Editing 

When I write my first draft, I make many grammars and spelling mistake and it is not wrong to make mistake when you are in the writing process.

In the editing step, I try to check my grammar and spellings. I come from a 3rd world country where English is not my first language, and editing and polishing my article remove grammar errors and clichés in it.

I use Editing tools like

• Grammarly
• Hemmingway text editor 
• ProWritingAid 

To improve my article. Reading the article loudly and making it sound for reading also helped me. 

I edit after one day when I finish my writing. You get more errors when you do it. Editing is just like finishing your article and making it ready to publish.

5. Checking title and image

Title and image make a difference. This is the backbone of your articles. I attended many writing classes. They taught me how to write attractive titles and finding the relevant image.

A reader clicks by looking at title and image. If both are attractive, then it is a higher chance that the writer will click your article.

Before publishing your story, try to write 5 different titles for one story and after taking a break to choose which attracts you as a reader. It is the best way to choose a title for your story.

Every Sunday I google images and find a new one for my articles it helps me to connect with readers' emotions. Images make a difference, it attracts readers.

Choose suitable images, you can choose 3 images for your article and choose the best among them.

Editing title and image make the article more engaging. Every writer must do before publishing his articles.

Writing is a continuous process. When we discipline our writing process and follow it, we can craft the best work from us.
