100 Articles in 30 Days, I Can’t Fail this Challenge
I don't give up, I always keep on pushing
I set this mammoth challenge some weeks back to publish 100 articles in 30 days right here on Vocal. I’ve done it before on Medium, but I’ve never attempted anything like this on Vocal, and I have to admit, it’s been super tough.
It’s day 19 as I write this, and I’ve published 27 articles so far. This piece will be article 28, and it’s safe to say that I’m behind on this challenge. In fact, I’m failing all the challenges that I’ve set for myself this month.
I’m feeling a little down, but I’m not giving up on this. I’m doing this for myself because I’ve fallen off track recently, and I want to pull myself back. I know, I could go slow and do a short challenge, but I don’t want to.
I’m going in all guns blazing because I really hate playing small. I like to set big goals and smash them, it’s my nature, and so I must succeed.
Here’s my plan to complete this challenge, and finish strong:
Go through old articles, and rewrite them
I have so many articles that are gathering digital dust. Instead of leaving them to gather dust, I’ll rewrite them, and add a new spin on them. I’ll also link the original article to drive more traffic to that piece.
Plan my time better
I’m a planner, but I’m also an anxious procrastinator. So there are days when I’ve planned out everything to the letter, and I end up chatting with a friend for hours instead of working. I won’t be doing that. I’m pushing through by creating very detailed time slots for writing, editing, and publishing.
I like to use interval working methods such as Pomodoro or the Flowtime method. Using these methods forces me to stay focused on the task at hand without wavering and spending time on other tasks instead of the most important things.
Work with an accountability partner
I get lonely working on projects on my own therefore, working with an accountability partner will help me stay on track. I have some online friends who are interested in partnering up with me on this, so I’ll connect with them to start that ASAP.
Reward myself for each milestone
I’ll reward myself for every five articles written. Doing this will help me stay motivated and celebrate my progress along the way.
Here are some inspirational quotes to help along the way:
"Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson
"The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." - Eleanor Roosevelt
"It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop." - Confucius
"The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." - Winston S. Churchill
"Believe you can and you're halfway there." - Theodore Roosevelt
"The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step." - Lao Tzu
"Hardships often prepare ordinary people for an extraordinary destiny." - C.S. Lewis
"When you come to the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on." - Franklin D. Roosevelt
"The difference between ordinary and extraordinary is that little extra." - Jimmy Johnson
Final Thoughts
Despite facing a significant setback in the ambitious goal of publishing 100 articles in 30 days, my determination to push forward remains strong. Recognizing the need for a revised strategy, the plan to repurpose old content, implement rigorous time management techniques, collaborate with an accountability partner, and celebrate milestones offers a renewed sense of hope.
Would you try a challenge like this?
