We had the pleasure of sitting down with Chaya Shurkin to discuss her journey as a nail artist, her inspiration, and her advice for aspiring artists. Read on to find out more about how she got started, and the secret to her signature style.
Q: How did you first become interested in nail art?
Chaya Shurkin: It all started when I was a teenager. I always loved doing my own nails and experimenting with different designs. As I got older, I realized that I had a real talent for it and decided to pursue it as a career.
Q: How would you describe your signature style?
Chaya Shurkin: I like to think of my style as bold and unique. I'm not afraid to take risks and try new things. I love incorporating different textures and materials into my designs, like glitter, studs, and rhinestones. I also like to play with color and patterns to create eye-catching designs.
Q: What inspires you when you're creating new designs?
Chaya Shurkin: I find inspiration everywhere - from nature to fashion to architecture. I love looking at different textures and colors and finding ways to incorporate them into my designs. I also love working with clients to create designs that reflect their personal style and personality.
Q: What do you think sets your work apart from other nail artists?
Chaya Shurkin: I think what sets me apart is my attention to detail. I'm a perfectionist and I won't stop until every nail is perfect. I also take the time to really listen to my clients and understand what they want. I think that level of personalization is what makes my work stand out.
Q:Which nail modelling method do you prefer? How do you determine the guide points?
Chaya Shurkin: Depending on the client's preferences (nail shape, French, design, length), natural nail shape, and the amount of time you have. Acrylic is better and faster for some nails. On the other hand, there are clients who do not like the smell of acrylic liquid (monomer). Therefore, gel technique should be used.
The acrylic technology allows thin nails to be made without sacrificing quality, but gel always requires some thickness to be wearable. As a first step, you should take the client's desire into consideration, as well as other factors such as the time available, the nail artist's qualifications, and the artist's knowledge.
Q: What advice do you have for aspiring nail artists?
Chaya Shurkin: My advice would be to never stop learning. The beauty industry is constantly evolving, so it's important to stay up to date with the latest trends and techniques. I would also recommend finding a mentor or taking classes to improve your skills. And most importantly, never give up on your dreams. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication to make it in this industry, but it's worth it in the end.
It was a pleasure speaking with Chaya Shurkin and learning more about her journey as a nail artist. Her passion for her craft is evident in every design she creates, and it's no wonder why she has become such a beloved figure in the beauty community. Whether you're looking for a simple manicure or an elaborate set of acrylics, Chaya Shurkin is sure to create a design that will leave you feeling confident and beautiful.
