Badshah discusses his music, career, and upcoming projects in exclusive interview
Badshah opens up about his music, journey, and upcoming projects.

Q1: Badshah, you've had a huge impact on the Indian music scene. What inspired you to pursue music, and how did your journey begin?
Badshah: "Honestly, I was always into music from a young age, but I never thought I'd make a career out of it. I started rapping in school, and I was influenced by Western hip-hop artists, but also by Bollywood music. My breakthrough came when I joined the group ‘The Mafia Mundeer,’ which gave me a platform to showcase my talent. Since then, it's been a continuous journey of growth, experimenting with different sounds, and keeping my passion alive."
Q2: You've been known for blending traditional Indian sounds with contemporary rap and hip-hop. How do you approach making music, and what influences your sound?
Badshah: "For me, music is about expression, and it has no boundaries. I love mixing elements of Punjabi music, Bollywood, and international hip-hop, because they are all part of my identity. I try to create songs that are not just catchy but also relatable to the people. My biggest influence comes from my roots — Punjabi folk music, Bollywood tunes, and the urban sound of Western hip-hop."
Q3: You've worked on many hits like 'Kar Gayi Chull,' 'DJ Waley Babu,' and 'Genda Phool.' Which song do you feel most connected to, and why?
Badshah: "I have a deep connection with each of my songs, but ‘Genda Phool’ was particularly special. It was a new experiment for me because I combined the traditional sound of Bengali folk with my style of rap, and it resonated with a wide audience. The success was beyond my expectations, and it really showed me that music has the power to break boundaries and create something unique."
Q4: As an artist, how do you stay motivated and inspired?
Badshah: "The motivation comes from within — from my love for music and from the people who appreciate what I do. Every day brings new challenges, and every fan's support pushes me to keep going. I also find inspiration in everyday life, from stories around me, to the way people express themselves. Staying connected with people and understanding their vibe keeps me inspired."
Q5: In your career, you've transitioned from being a music producer to a solo artist. How has this evolution shaped your perspective on the music industry?
Badshah: "Being a producer gave me a lot of insight into how music is made and what makes a song work. But when I transitioned to a solo artist, I learned to express myself more openly. It was a leap of faith, but it was also incredibly fulfilling. The industry has evolved a lot, especially with the rise of digital platforms, and I try to stay ahead by experimenting with new styles while keeping it real to my roots."
Q6: You’ve collaborated with many artists in both Bollywood and international music scenes. What’s your favorite collaboration so far?
Badshah: "Each collaboration brings something unique. But I think my work with singers like Neha Kakkar on ‘DJ Waley Babu’ and with international artists has been very fulfilling. Collaborating helps me learn and grow, and each time I step into the studio with someone, I try to bring something new to the table. The energy of collaboration is unmatched."
Q7: What do you think about the rise of independent music artists in India? Do you feel the landscape has changed?
Badshah: "Absolutely! The independent music scene in India is flourishing. It’s no longer just about Bollywood, and that's exciting. Artists today have the freedom to create music they truly believe in and directly reach their audience. Platforms like YouTube and Spotify have made it easier to discover new talent. The industry is expanding, and there’s room for everyone to find their voice."
Q8: With so much success, how do you manage work-life balance?
Badshah: "It’s not easy, but I try to prioritize time for myself and my family. Music is my life, but so is my personal time. I make it a point to take breaks, spend time with my loved ones, and recharge. It helps me come back to my work with fresh energy and ideas. Balance is key to staying grounded."
Q9: What advice do you have for aspiring musicians who look up to you?
Badshah: "My advice would be to stay true to your craft, be patient, and never stop learning. The industry can be tough, but perseverance is what gets you through. Don’t chase trends — create your own sound. Most importantly, stay authentic to who you are as an artist and connect with your audience on a personal level."
Q10: Finally, what can your fans expect from you in the coming months or years? Any exciting new projects in the works?
Badshah: "I’m always working on new music. I can’t share too much yet, but I’m planning to release some fresh tracks, and I have a few exciting collaborations coming up. I’m also exploring different genres and sounds, so expect the unexpected. And, of course, I’ll continue performing and connecting with my fans all over the world."
These are just sample questions and answers based on Badshah’s public persona and career insights. If you want a more detailed, specific interview, it would be great to tailor the questions based on his most recent work or personal updates!
