I Guess I Am A Genius...
I am indeed a genius but from an opposite point of view.
My parents often call me a genius. Now, most people would be happy with such a remark, but I was not. Genius is one thing and saying it by mocking me is another thing. They have chosen a specific set of nicknames for me that are said as a praise, but in my case it means the opposite. However, there is a reason for such a extreme naming system. Due to my sweet and loving nature, whatever I try to do, turns into a disaster.
Many would think I am exaggerating, but let me complete my story and then everyone would understand.
I love to watch anime. I have been watching it since I was in kindergarten. Whenever my favourite shows were on, I could not control myself and turned on the television, even it if angered my mother. One such incident occurred when I was in my 10th standard. My exams were nearing so my parents advised me to focus more on studies rather than watching stupid cartoons (how dare she? Anime and Cartoons are not same!!).
Even though my exams were nearing, I kept spending my time watching anime. She would always put her hand on top of the television. If it was warm, it meant that I had been watching TV instead of studying. After observing me for a few days, my mother warned me that if I do not focus on studies, she could cut the cable connection. Seeing how serious she was, I listened to her. Moreover, it is better to miss a few episodes instead of never watching it.
One evening, I was studying in my room and my mother came. She told that she was going to the market to get few groceries. Knowing my favourite anime would air a new episode in a few minutes, she told me to study and not to get up from my desk. However, I had full confidence on myself that I would ditch studies to watch my favourite show (no one leaves such a golden opportunity).
As soon as she left, I waited a few moments to confirm she was gone and then turned on my TV. For the next hour I was glued to my seat. After its conclusion, I got worried my mother would kill me if she found out about it. There was no way the TV would cool down within a few minutes. I had already written a goodbye note since it was going to be my last day o Earth. My mother arrived and saw me studying in my room. She was so happy.
After keeping all the groceries, she sat down and switched on the TV. For some reason, the TV won't start. She tried a few times but it was just not working. When she got up to examine the TV, she saw water dripping down the TV. She could not understand how it happened, but after a few seconds she figure it out. Knowing that I had to no to cool down the TV, I emptied a half litre bottle on it (Yeah, now you know why I they called me a GENIUS!).
Even after 7 years, I still remember that day. It felt like I was in the Matrix. Utensils, sandals, belts, and other domesticated weaponries flying towards me and I had to dodge them. I could not last long as my mother also used her hands to thrash me left and right.
On the bright side, after the exams, my father brought a brand new 48 inch LED Television. The last one was almost a decade old. In some way my disastrous doings led to something new and fresh. I guess I am indeed some kind of a genius. The kind that sacrifices themselves for a new TV.
