Enneagram Wing types - similarities and differences

1w2 is an enthusiasic advoat and 1w9 is a peaceful realist.

Similarities - both are very orderly and focussed on being right. They both want to focus on goals and find the right way of doing things. Their focus on doing things the right way can make them both fairly active people

Differences - 1w2 is quite an extroverted personality while 1w9 may seem introverted and want to keep to themselves. 1w2 would seem upbeat and enthusiastic while 1w9 will seem more downbeat. 1w2 may put too much pressure on themselves and overindulge, 1w9 may be more likely to be more consistent due to their calm nature.

2w1 is a humble servant and 2w3 is an enthusiastic host.

Similarities - both of these types want to help others and oriented towards people while maintaining a sense of independence. They both want to be helpful to others while being able to stand on their own as individuals.

Differences - 2w3 is a social butterfly while 2w1 may be more seen in the background have just a few friends. They are both oriented towards people yet 2w3 will seem more performative 2w1 more quiet.

3w2 is a charming host and 3w4 is an artistic professional.

Similarities - they are both professional, upbeat and extroverted. Others may seem them both as gogetters who want and are motivated to get things done. 3w4 may seem a bit more introverted, yet both are upbeat and extroverted personalities.

Differences - 3w2 may occupy the role of entertainer more while 3w4 might be more likely to be introverted. They are both quite extroverted though 3w4 may seem more reserved and cool.

4w3 is a performative aristocrat and 4w5 is a quiet guard.

Similarities - These are both fairly introverted people who like being by themselves. They generally have a strongly introverted or reflective side and like to reflect in their feelings. They are also both very artistic kinds of people who usually have some kind of artistic outlet.

Differences - 4w3 is more perforative and extroverted seeming. 4w5 would generally come across as more mental and detached and they often seem to withdraw quite a lot. A 4w3 is more likely to pass as more extroverted. 4w5 may seem more scholarly and studious.

5w4 is an eccentric scholar and 5w6 is a celebral scholar.

Similarities - both of these types have an intellectual approach usually. They also may both spend time by themselves, pursuing their own interests. They are both oriented towards solving problems and have an interest in information in general.

Differences - 5w4 may have a more esoteric or eccentric side while 5w6 may favor more conventional approaches. 5w4 might seem more independent yet also more upbeat while 5w6 may have a few close confidants and come across as more aloof and in the background.

7w6 is an endearing entertiner and 7w8 is a charismatic realist.

Similarities - both are realists who come across as extroverted to others. Both may also appear as pragmatic and wanting to jump into the real world. Both want to entertain and occupy themselves with activities they can preoccupy themselves with.

Differences - 7w8 may feel slightly more withdrawn and focussed while 7w6 may seem more frenetic. 7w8 may have a stronger sense of indepence or to be on their own. 7w8 may also have more folllow through. 7w6 may seem to interact with others a little more easily.

8w7 and an extroverted maverick and 8w9 is an independent realist

Similarities - they both have a strong sense of independence and individualism. They also both have expansive energies that may come across as having a lot of energy and dynamism. Both can be dynamic and forceful at one point and peacekeeping at another.

Differences - 8w7 may come across as a bit more independent. 8w9 may seem a bit more peaceful and withdrawing. 8w7 may come across as extroverted yet independent, and 8w9 may be more likely to seem to rely on others.

9w8 is a peaceful chameleon and 9w1 is a studious mentor.

Similarities - 9w1 and 9w8 can both tend towards being peaceful and hardworking. They both have a calm and serene nature about them and a also tend towards being consistent and ethical

Differences - 9w1 is quite a bit more introverted and 9w8 is more likely to be ambiverted and chameleonic. 9w1 is quite a ceberebral and studious type while 9w8 might tend more towards being physical and social.
