Why I've Not Been Watching Big Brother - Tobi Bakre

Tobi answers a couple of questions, talks Big Brother

By Jide OkonjoPublished 3 years ago 3 min read

Nigerian media personality turned actor and action star, Tobi Bakre, is definitely the man of the moment. Tobi broke into the national consciousness after appearing on Season 3 of the Big Brother Naija show in 2018. Since then, he has gone on to try on many hats from modelling to hosting. He is finding the most success now wearing his acting hat, and has been the leading man for a number of blockbuster hits now including Brotherhood, The Blood Covenant, and the recently released Gangs of Lagos.

As a person who found his fame through the Big Brother franchise, you would think Tobi would be keeping tabs on what is going on with the franchise, but that is not the case. During his interview with TVC, Tobi Bakre opened up about a number of things including things people don't know about him, the concept of fake it till you make it, as well as why he hasn't been following the Big Brother franchise. Here is what Tobi had to say.

Tobi during interview

During his interview, Tobi was asked to give "2 interesting things people don't know about you", Tobi said:

TOBI BAKRE: I'm on the road to becoming number one movie star out of Africa. I really really love kuli kuli.

"How do you manage your personal life and social media?"

TOBI BAKRE: I don't create intentionally for social media. I just put out the part of me I'm comfortable with putting out on social media, so I share what I want to share. The part of my life I want the public to ride along with, I put it out. The parts I don't want to put out, I'm not gonna put out.

"Fake it till you make it, what's your take on it?"

TOBI BAKRE: Do whatever works for you, just make sure you work hard. That's all. Some people fake it till they make it, it works. Some people don't. Just do whatever you feel is right for you, but just make sure you work hard.

"If you change anything in the entertainment industry at large, what will it be?"

TOBI BAKRE: Everybody should just get paid more. Cuz we grind a lot, like from the acting space to the art space. The whole thing generally, we work a lot but I don't think we get paid enough. So our directors should make more money, our actors should make more money. Like movies for instance, like Hollywood standard where you can do a movie and you know, you're set for life, that kind of thing.

"Are you happy with the new flow of Big Brother Naija?"

TOBI BAKRE: I've not been watching. I'm busy. So I don't sit in front of the TV all day. I've been on set promoting. I've been very active, I've been very busy. But Big Brother is always a great show.
