Speaking about why she made the change from gospel music to raunchy content, Evan Okoro revealed saying:

EVAN OKORO: My name is Evan Okoro and I want to set something straight. I was never a born again Christian and backslid, get that into your skull. Na money I find go. Stop abusing Christianity. We dey abuse Christianity in this country which is very very wrong. Stop pressurising people. No be everybody wey sing gospel music na him be born again. Understand that. Some people get talent, some people na money them dey find. Me, I myself, I was looking for the bar. I was looking for the money. Back then, so many actresses went into music which we all know. Late Chinedu Nwadike sang "Oku Gbajie Aka Ji Ya" wey come blow - I'm sorry, may his soul rest in peace - as a hustler! Little child then wey dey find money wey wan help her family, I said "e be like say money dey this music oh. Ehhh, Chinedu Nwadike don blow with 'Oku Gbajie Aka Ji Ya'", I started saving money to go to studio. I come save the money. I dey Nollywood back then oh, I dey Nollywood, I started acting as a child. I come say make I sing, my sister, e no go anywhere! Even me and my mama and my papa, we use wheelbarrow dey push am dey sing am for inside market, dance, I did all that. E no go! I gast to switch to hip hop. Abi una no see hip hop for my page? Go to Youtube, search "American Bobo" by Evan Okoro, my hip hop wey I even wan contact Flavour but I no get that kain money that time. So now it is otele content, otele content come dey sell. Stop abusing christianity! You see why some pastors dey chop una? Some fake pastors! You guys are pressurising people! So I'm not a born again. I be film person before I do that music, so na money I find go. Music no gree sell, otele come dey sell, so make I do otele content dey go.
