What Would Happen if the World Lived Without Social Media?
"A glimpse into a quieter, more mindful world."

Imagine waking up in the morning. You don't have to immediately check notifications on your phone. There's no Instagram Story from your friend post about hitting the gym at 6 A.M. No Twitter filled with complaints, or TikToks that make you lose track of time. No need to see what other people doing, and no need to compare about your life and others. Sometimes what you see on social media might be fake, wrong, or overrated that could lead you to lose yourself. So, a world without social media-sounds peaceful or does it feel empty?
Some people might immediately say, "Finally, some peace!" or some people might say, "Oh no! My routines are gone! How can I know about what are the others doing right now?". So, let's be honest: many of us live and connect through our screens. But, maybe without social media, we might feel these:
1. More Focus, but Maybe More Loneliness
Without scrolling through IG or TikTok, we'd have more time. Because the time that's usually spent for looking at "other people's life", could be changed and we could use that time for a new routine, such as started focusing more on our own life! We might become more productive, more present, more positive, and more aware of the world around us. But...we might think, who's going to know if we got a new haircut? Who's going to like our posts, such as food picts or our selfies?
2. Deeper Conversations, But Fewer of Them
In a world without social media, conversations might become more often, directly and meaningful. We wouldn't just send emojis or gifs reaction , or even write letters? (Okay, maybe not that romantic). But, we could meet them in person, talk about everything rather than just typing or tag or in our own world with our phone in our hands. So that connections would be much more personal - although, much more intimate but far between.
3. A Calmer Life, But Slower Information
We wouldn't be bombarded by viral news or celebrity gossip every minute. But, this also means we wouldn't know the latest trends or what's being talked about in the world. And we might have more peaceful mind because we couldn't know about what others are doing. Not just for us personal, but the world might be more peaceful even though it would be much slower when it comes to information.
4. Creativity Could Still Thrive-Or Slowly Fade
A lot of people get creative inspiration and learn anything they want to know from social media. We learn new recipes from Reels, see many cool artworks that different people made on Pinterest, or join writing challenges on Twitter. Without all of that, creativity might shift to the real world- or it might fade away due to the lack of place to showcase it.

Final Thoughts: We Need Balance
A world without social media doesn't necessarily mean that everything would be better or worse. But, it would certainly be...different.
With social media, all of the people have access to the information they want to know. Many people would connect through social media, like when other people want to voluntaring themselves, or want to be a donator for those in need because they know about the people problem and want to share their kindness. On the other hand, social media can also make you lose yourself because of the toxic thought.
Without social media, you could focus more on yourself and your life. You wouldn't have time to compare about you and the other's life. Your mind would be more in ease, peaceful and mindful. And when you meet in-direct with other people, you would feel more connected and more meaningful.
Maybe the question isn't "which is better: having or not having social media?". But more like: how do we remain ourselves, even while living in a world where so many eyes are on us virtually?
