What respect is

Definition of respect

By JadenPublished about a year ago 3 min read

here's the definition i'd Like Us to Work with respect is first and foremost it's an Active process This is going to be a Roll up your sleeves proposition with One Another and it's an Active process of non judgment or if you'd like the Word curiously engaging people and if We're really committed to this We're going to do this with people from All backgrounds That means that some people if they're only a little bit different yeah it's not going to be All That much work because We 're going to have a lot More common Ground but there will be some people who are very different and they instruction manuals are going to be thick and to them yours is going to be equally thick but if We're really committed to this As an organization We're going to make that investment in one Another Why because fundamentally We increase our awareness of One Another and We increase our effectiveness and efficiency at working with One Another Now help me understand this because i'm making a Kind of a leap of an intellectual leap between those two concepts why do you think we tend to work More effectively with people that We know better Why What does that do for our brains that allows Us to be More effective and efficient anybody Say That again it's easier why is it easier You're Right it is easier but Why we trust trust there Why else Something even More important than trust We can be ourselves so We're at easy it it does it kind of Because of the trust it shuts Down Fear but here's the Biggest Thing it does it makes Us More predictable around One Another and of all the things that allow Us to work effectively it's predictability see the human Brain in fact This is one of the reasons Why our species Rose to the Top of the food chain We Were able to out predict The Future of any other species so we could kind of predict What was going to happen Next the More that you know me and i know you the More We can predict how each other is going to ACT and react in different situations and with that knowledge We are able to get Things Done We're able to take shortcuts with each other that allow Us to get Things Done much More quickly and That's the Real value in that We actually become More effective because We become More predictable around One Another The Last Part of this definition that i'm going to suggest i think is probably the most important part it Talks about emotions We're going to engage each other in a way that esems both Myself and you and think about that What if We did Nothing else except that What if We accepted the premise that My Sense of worth and value half Comes from me but also half Comes from You and yours half Comes from You and half Comes from me i'll Talk about this a little bit More at the end but one of the Things We need to understand is the human Brain is one of the most social it is in fact the most socially wired Brain on the Planet We have more a greater Part Of our Brain dedicated to interacting with each other than any other species does and What that means is my Sense of worth and value even though i would like to think you know kind of like the rugged marb man i'm my own Man That's not The Way our brains work My Sense of value in part is derived by How you Treat me and yours is derived by how i Treat you so what We Want to Start to realize is that very that very Thing that makes Us so Human also makes Us dependent on One Another so what if We took it upon ourselves to be mutually responsible For The Sense of value that We Feel around One Another That's when we get to this this place called respect
