What opportunities exist outside of your comfort zone?

Working outside of your comfort zone helps open up new opportunities.

Have you ever had a dream, but then let it sit on the back burner because you didn’t feel like doing what was needed in order to make it happen? Or maybe you tried something new and realized that it wasn't for you at all. Whatever your experience, there are likely opportunities available to learn more about yourself or do things differently if only you take the initiative to go after them. You'll be surprised by how much personal growth comes from taking risks and trying new things even when they don't seem comfortable at first!

Doing things different from the way that you have in the past is important.

You can't grow if you don't change.

You can't learn if you don't try.

You can't have new experiences if you don't do anything new.

You can't help others if you don't help yourself.

You can't have dreams if you don’t dream.

Personal growth comes from doing things that challenge you.

As a person, you're going to want to grow. You're going to want to improve yourself and your life in every way possible. Personal growth is an important part of life, and there are many ways in which you can achieve it.

As you grow as a person, from within or from the outside, some experiences will be challenging. Some might even feel uncomfortable or unpleasant at first but then become rewarding later on down the line when you've had time to reflect on them and learn from them. Other experiences will simply challenge your preconceived notions about yourself: what you are capable of doing and how far you really want to go with something new or unfamiliar—or even just changeable!

You won't learn new things if you don't try.

So, if you want to improve yourself or get out of your comfort zone, try new things. Try them with people you trust, with people you don’t know and even with those who are different from you. You might be surprised at what happens when we get out of our comfort zones.

One thing I learned while in college was that my “comfort zone” was not as safe a place as I thought it was. I grew up in New York City, so when I enrolled at Cornell University in Upstate New York—about two hours west—I was going into uncharted territory (okay this is only slightly true). My roommate and her friends were from Long Island; they were loud; they talked about things that made no sense to me; they seemed like aliens! But after some time getting used to their antics (which included playing an elaborate game called beer pong), eventually my opinions changed: this group of people became my best friends and mentors during college years (and beyond).

If you have a new experience, it will expand your worldview.

  • When you have a new experience, it can help you see things from different perspectives.
  • You can learn more about yourself.
  • You can learn more about other people.
  • You can learn more about the world around you.
  • And, ultimately, while not every experience will teach you something, if they're all new experiences—especially if they're all in your own comfort zone—you'll be expanding your worldview and knowledge base faster than someone who rarely leaves their home or office or couch (or whatever).

You shouldn't let your dreams just be dreams.

Don't let your dreams stay just that: a dream. When you think about what you want to do with your life, don't just think about it—do it. And don't stop there. Go for something even greater than your original goal!

You have the power within yourself to create change in this world, and if you can help others along the way then that's even better. I know that sounds a little cheesy and cliché, but it's true! If we all take steps towards making our dreams come true and helping others while doing so, then we will make this world a better place.

When you follow your dreams, it can help others along the way to do the same thing.

If you're going to get up and go, sometimes it's best to look at what others have done before you. Take a look at the stories of these people who followed their dreams:

  • Steve Jobs dropped out of college and started Apple Computer. When he returned to Apple as CEO, he created a world-changing product with the iPod and iPhone.
  • Anna Jarvis founded Mother's Day in 1907 when she was only 22 years old! She fought for decades against those who tried to change her vision for this holiday—and eventually won!
  • Oprah Winfrey told herself that she would never work in television again after getting fired from her job as an anchor on morning news show AM Chicago because she had no experience in front of cameras. However, when she received an offer for $25 million over five years from ABC Entertainment Group president Bob Iger, who had seen her speak at an awards ceremony earlier that year and was impressed by her personal style and message ... well ... let's just say things worked out pretty well for Oprah after that!

Working outside of your comfort zone helps open up new opportunities.

If you're going to reach your goals, you'll need help. You can't do everything yourself, especially if you're not trained in the skills required for a particular task. If your goal is to be an excellent writer, it won't matter how much writing practice you get if all of your content is written by other people. Your writing will never improve because there will always be someone else's work at the forefront of your mind while producing new content—you are so focused on what they did well or poorly that it becomes difficult to produce any original ideas of your own.

Working outside of your comfort zone also means being open enough with yourself and others that when someone offers advice or suggestions about how best to proceed with something, instead of taking it as an attack on who you are as a person (or worse yet: "how dare anyone suggest I'm not good enough"), consider taking those things into account and seeing where this path could take both yourself and those around him/her/them.

Conclusion

You should never be afraid of taking risks. When you work outside of your comfort zone, you open up yourself to new opportunities. You might find that your life is much more interesting than before because you are now exposed to things that were previously inaccessible or unimaginable. It may seem scary at first, but don't let fear hold you back from trying something different!
