What Is Stress and How Do We Get Rid of It?
Are you stressed?
One of the aspects that exist in both professional and personal life refers to the fact that, in a real way, we are the cause of all the events that happen to us.
One of the major challenges for entrepreneurs is the stress of the day and the fact that once in the social or family sphere they have difficulty disconnecting.
A way to disconnect is to find those activities that help both the brain to relax and the body.
An extraordinary technique that takes only five minutes is the conscious reconnection between mind and body. Practiced regularly, this technique can make a real difference in a person's mental and emotional state.
Many people spend most of their time detached and disconnected from the physical body. This does not happen consciously. Business people, and not only, are too "busy" to think about what needs to be done immediately or too busy to react to what a third person has said or done.
Therefore, very often, in the daily environment, there is a situation in which the real needs of the proper functioning of the individual are neglected, eating on the run or jumping over the tables being an example in this regard.
In the short term, such behavior can be ignored, but in the long run, the signs of stress are felt both physiologically and especially mentally and emotionally.
How do we reconnect?
The answer is very simple: by raising awareness. For example, did you breathe consciously while reading these lines? Did you count your heartbeat? These functions happen anyway, being stored in our subconscious, only you do not have the degree of awareness about them.
Reconnection by raising awareness occurs in a maximum of five minutes and all we have to do is sit somewhere quiet to breathe consciously and hear our heartbeat. It seems too simple, but the truth is that we can do the operations one by one in the brain, one by one. Therefore, if we focus on conscious breathing and heartbeat, we stop thinking about everyday problems.
But reconnecting helps us deal with some of the effects. Stress is an effect.
To reduce stress, what needs to be done is to look for the causes that generate it.
Words like problem/challenge/situation have essentially no content. These are terms that define the individual's reporting, perception, and experience of various events. For example, losing a job can be seen as a big loss or a great opportunity.
The real keys to managing emotions are not miraculous techniques but changing the way we perceive situations. If we now perceive them as stressful, then the proper wording and reporting must be discovered so that they can produce beneficial effects in the life of the individual.
"Easy to say, hard to do" or "That doesn't work for me" are some of my clients' remarks.
All our conscious and subconscious actions are dictated by our belief system and our value system.
Henry Ford said, "If you think you can or you can't, you're right." On any of the beliefs we choose to follow, the result we will obtain will be by that set of beliefs we have. The effort is the same regardless of the belief chosen, but the results are different.
Therefore, those who believe that "they can't get rid of stress" are right. For the other people who are convinced that they can get rid of stress, I propose the following exercise:
Shoot right for five minutes! Close your eyes! Take a deep breath and feel the air enter your lungs! Expire! Repeat this action and as you inhale and exhale feel your heartbeat. Think about how real things are in your life! Now inhale and exhale again! Think about it and answer the following questions:
- What is the problem/stress?
- What created the problem/stress?
- How have you failed to resolve this so far?
- How can you overcome the problem/stress?
- What would you like to change?
- When will you stop having this limitation?
- How many ways can you solve this?
- Do you know that you already see things from a different perspective?
As in any situation in our lives, changing our perception of stress can happen instantly or over time.
Consistently practiced and consciously addressed, stressful situations can turn into exciting challenges over time. The only thing we can control in these situations is our attitude.
