Valentine's Day Destination

Nothing wrong with wishful thinking!

By Jay LeTron DobbinsPublished 3 years ago 3 min read
She needs to be under the mistletoe with me!

Yet another dull day of claims and with my eyes fixed on three screens of numbers and policy terms, I was in need of a serious "take me away". Thankful for life by all means, but something is missing. I constantly get caught up in the feeling that things could always be a bit better. Companionship levels are at a all-time low because I have a very low tolerance for BS, and I would settle for a woman who will reciprocate her feelings for me. How simple is it to return a phone call or a text? Damn right she needs to respond within 24 hours (that's generous) or have a doctor's note with a good reason and at least be on 4 meds prescribed by the doctor.

Just plain done with the "grab-ass", "hide-and-seek" games of figuring out if someone wants to grow with you. These dating sites with women holding their phone numbers as hostage. I'm sorry, my patience is too thin for that. I'm quick to stop calling you if there is something I see and don't like, but I guess women need their "safety".

Nonetheless, I wish for someone to invest my time with and not look like a fool in the end process. As many times I want to give up on dating, I still remain a hopeless romantic. Nothing wrong with wishful thinking. Somehow the universe will shift and these women today will realize that having all the 6s is not really cut out as advertised.

So I begin to let my fingers do the walking (who remembers that?) and see what is out there on Facebook to laugh at. Lighten the tone a bit and not worry about the dating woes that currently have me down. There she was! As perfect looking as a fresh fall of snow on a Pittsburgh's morning. Then I often think about what would I say if we ever met in person.

As words could never calm a disturbed crying child, her looks could bring sudden change to a raging sea. She was the perfect setting to a transitioning night of great dinner and some meaningful conversation. Her eyes gave a slight dissatisfaction as she was too exhausted from what the city had to offer; as if the dating gas tank was slowly on "E" and she needed a delightful recharge.

Turning down this guy and that guy; she did not have a shortage of invitations, but the quality and substance was in need for complete attention. This was my moment to play crime-fighter, because it was a complete felony to have such a beautiful woman be free without a trying and qualified man giving her true and pure romantic attention. She has heard all before and probably a few times a week, so the common line will not catch her attention. Not impressed with money and material things, but she would appreciate an honest gentlemen who knows how to show a quality woman a good time, with no pressure.

So ask for her to join me on a practice run. A practice run, she might ask! Yeah, we can practice a Valentine's Date dinner over and over again; until we get it right so that we have the perfect evening. Maybe too much to take in all at one time, but Valentine's Day is only less than three months away. We should we spend any other time with anything else. We might have fun and find what needed to find us, instead of looking for it. Her eyes got real bright as she read the message, but somehow she was still hesitant to give me a call.
