I woke up this morning, and saw a post on one of the many social media platforms, about a girl that I grew up with when I was younger, having just recently passed away. This world is a fast paced, chaotic, and energetically demanding place to exist, and for this reason, many seek avenues of serenity, that lead to sadness. I have lost most of the people in my family from drug related ailments, or overdoses, which has made the life I live nowadays, a rather lonely one.
I suffered through active addiction for many years, until I lost my late wife, to an overdose, this for me was the ultimate wake up call, in relation to a rebirth of my spiritual drive, and soulful nature, which I was born with, and carried with me since childhood. I had a conversation with my wife, prior to her passing, and we both discussed things that we wanted the other to do, in the event one of us was to pass away, leaving the other alone in this world.
I am so incredibly grateful for the fact that my wife and I had this conversation about what I should do in the event she passed away before me, because without this conversation having taken place, I would have been completely and utterly lost at the event of her passing. I began making small changes in my life, such as beginning an exercise routine, as well as a daily study session with my in-laws, which encompassed reading through the bible, this was not so much for me, as it was for my brother in law, who had a hard time reading and also had a hard time staying awake throughout these sessions. Although this practice was not so much for me, it truly invigorated my spirit, with the wisdom which I gained through reading the bible with my family.
I also began developing healthy habits, which I used as my coping mechanisms. Considering my late wife and I had spent nearly all of our time together, for the last 11 years, I had to find something to fill my time with, so it was not spent idly, because from past experiences, idle time allowed for negative thoughts, and not so healthy habits to arise. I began wood working, I began writing, I began reading philosophical, new age, and metaphysical texts, which were focused on how to heal the mind after a traumatic event.
I began to have these subtle, yet powerful inspirational feelings come over me, which would prompt me in a direction that I truly needed to go, and that direction, was that of healing, in every way, not just spiritually, or physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. I also began meditating, and photography, to help replenish my spirits deflated energy levels, due to years of highly stressful situations, and addiction oriented states of mind. I am now at a point in my life, 5 years later, where addiction is something that will always have a part in my life, but the difference now, is that it plays a positive role in my life, because I am able to use the experiences which I have had in the past, to help others to avoid such a path as addiction can pave.
If you suffer from active addiction right now, I implore you to seek the help to end the cycle that has possibly permeated your family, without your knowledge, and if it hasn't, then I am so very grateful for that fact, but if it has, then you must be the one to break this generational curse, because I know that my actions in regards to breaking addiction, have helped to inspire others I know, not to take this path, for it is one of sadness and despair, where instead of gaining life-force, this ailment causes who ever treads it's treacherous walkway, to lose hope, and lose life-force at the same rate, as well as causing their psychological, emotional, spiritual, and physical health to suffer greatly.
Never allow yourself to be chained to something that seeks nothing more than to destroy you, and infect those around you with the same unquenchable hunger that addiction causes to form in the lives of those who fall victim to it.
Stay strong, Stay Vigilant, and don't give up, or give in to the chaos in the world, do not allow yourself to fall into the trap that addiction sets, for it is a life that no one needs to experience, let alone lose their lives to.
Brightest Blessings.

Knowing the path is far different in experience than walking the path. Knowledge only becomes truly useful once it is implemented in ones life, so that which I write is that which I have experienced, hopefully my words may offer solace.
