UBER Good Deed

WE WERE BOTH mom CUSTOMERS

GOOD DEED RECEIVED

Imagine a flower growing on green grass in the middle of winter. Thats the only spot with no snow. Is it on your grass or is it on the other side? In a feild or in front of a house?

A good deed can happen if you enjoy what you read.

Christmas Eve,

Last minute shopping. I spent a little extra time. More than I really wanted to at the mall.

Earlier at the nail salon I told my oldest son "call your auntie tell her I will be sending her the money on cashapp, if she can get us an uber home."

At the time we were dropped off at the mall the weatherman already called for a snow storm. So by the time my son spoke with my foster sister the big snow flakes already begin to fall and pile up.

Of course after getting my nails done I needed to get a few gifts I really wanted to get for a few people. The rest would be left to online shopping for the people who are further away from home.

Being with both my kids and trying to shop in a timely manner is always almost impossile. I love my kids but anything done while having them by myself is done a lot more slow. I also have a tendency to need a checklist in order to complete all ideas and tasks when they are with me because I am constantly distracted with mamking sure one is by my side and the other one isn't crying or fussy.

As I made it to my last destination in the mall I passed by a store TILLY'S which made me turn around and go in for a look. Maybe I would find something worth it as a gift to my youngest sons father. Sure enough I grabbed a diamond supply t-shirt just perfect size for him. As I approach to check out line I was on the phone with my sister trying to get that Uber home.

She said no cars were available but she was also trying Lyft too. Which I didn't suggest because they are rarely available in my area.

As I was on the phone and managing to pay attention to my 7 year old; who always has tons to talk about, I noticed when I walked up to the check out line, in the front, where the new "COVID-19 6 feet apart" footprints were in the opposite direction. I looked at the customer checking out and her two children, instantly felt like I was invading their space.

I looked at the woman and apologized for being in the way. "Oh no its okay I did the same thing walking this way first to check out."

I loved the understanding response, smiled under my mask and exchanged a few more words before she left the store and I took my place in line.

Still on the phone with my sister, "no rides still sis?" "No nothing." I laughed about the idea that it wasn't working.

I walked out and called an associate while getting my brows done at the New York Threading. She didn't say yes to giving me a ride, as I expected her to say no because she has driving in the snow anexity.

Next up Gamestop. Back on the phone with sis' and still no rides available.

As I walked in there I asked my 7 year old for suggestions, I needed to know what I should buy for a gift. To me, he would know a good idea in this place for sure.

Still on the phone with my sister, she tells me there is still no rides available in my area. I get discouraged thinking I might have to call someone and by someone that means someone I didn't want to have to call.

I maybe even asked a few people for a ride, I guess I realized again this isn't home or I cannot read people as well as I thought I could.

I ended up on the phone with another foster sister asking for an uber, just to get the same answer..."no rides available". I start complaining a little bit and some women I could hear from my side, says she didn't mean to interrupt she's already got an uber. My kids and I are welcomed. In fact she noted how she had been in the same position before and knows how it feels.

As I listened to her I realized she was that very customer I almost bumped into on the way to the checkout.

Indeed a good deed received. A great way to meet.
