Thoughts after a debate

What could it be?

By Jessie AltmanPublished 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 3 min read

I was in a heated debate with a friend, and it seem to last for hours. I have known this guy for twenty plus years and it was like we never even met each other before. We could not agree on anything. It was almost like he was pulling my chain or something and after we're done, I couldn't stop thinking. So, I kept the argument going with myself. I'm not crazy but I couldn't leave it alone. I had to get it all out of me or I would be thinking about it for weeks, and I don't have time for that.

Me and my friend have these kinds of debates all the time but this one was a little different and because of that I figured I would wright everything I was thinking down on some paper and let him read it for a better understanding of what I was really trying to say. without the need of showcasing his own feelings of disagreement.

It's funny how man perceives life, religion ambition, and goals. I mean it's obvious that we all have a life, but not all of us are religious, nor are many of us ambitious and some of us don't even have goals. The funny part is, we all perceive OURSELVES as living beings that believe we're doing everything we can do to accomplish what we want in life. Now, if that sounds a little counterintuitive, it probably is. Let's take religion for an example.

The word itself; means a PARTICULAR system of faith and worship. So, it's a system used to single OUT an individual member of a specific group or class of people with their OWN shared believes. In other words, being religious means that YOU believe the same thing as these other people that has identified themselves with a certain religion or way of THINKING. One reason we do this, is because we're trying to be productive citizens and get where we want in life.

Other reasons may be, we feel alone, or we need guidance to show us a better way. Neither one of which is a bad thing, but all of them are just ways of us trying to figure out who we are and how we fit into this bigger picture of reality.

Fortunately, some of us have no problem doing this at all. Unfortunately, many of us do, and that's where ambition comes in. Being ambitious means that you have a strong desire to do or to achieve something, but typically it requires determination and hard work.

For some that takes little to no effort at all, but for others it may be unseemly to their physical or mental capabilities. And if that so be the case, it would be nearly impossible for one to be as enthusiastic about ambition then the other. Forcing Easy Daisy and Slow Joe to have a dramatically DIFFERENT perceptions of what it takes to achieve a certain desire.

Therefore, simultaneously causing them both to have an unalike composition on life and goals. Fortunately, or unfortunately at the same time, we all perceive life in our own way, and that only exist in thought or as an IDEA but not in a physical or concrete forum.

Reason being we all have our OWN idea of what life, religion, ambition and goals really are. We all live in and share the SAME reality. No matter what we think or do about it, it's the life we're living and at the end of the day it's all we can do until we cannot do it anymore.
