The theory of marriage

He who becomes a family, so to speak, pays collateral to fortune

He who becomes a family, so to speak, pays collateral to fortune. Because the family will inevitably drag down the career, regardless of the nature and quality of the career.

So the person who can best devote himself to the public should be the person who is not burdened by his family. For only such a man is able to devote all his love, all his wealth, to one lover -- the public. And those who have a family, I'm afraid, prefer to save the best things for their descendants.

Some people are willing to remain single even after marriage. Because they don't like families and see their wives and children as financial burdens. Some are even proud to be childless. Perhaps they are afraid that if they have children, they will divide up their wealth.

There is one kind of person who lives in celibacy in order to maintain independence and avoid being bound by obligations and responsibilities to the family. But this kind of person, may think belt and shoelace, also unavoidably is a kind of bondage!

In fact, the celibate may be the best friend, the best master, the best servant, but hardly the best citizen. Almost all fugitives are homeless, because they can flee at any time.

As dedicated monks, there are reasons to remain celibate. Otherwise their mercy would be given first to their families rather than to God. As a judge and lawyer, celibacy does not matter much. For if they have one bad aide around them, the power of slander is worth five wives. As soldiers, it is good to have a family, which can stimulate their sense of responsibility and courage in the battlefield. This can be countered by the example of Turkey, where the customs do not value marriage and family, and as a result the morale of their soldiers is poor.

The responsibility to the family is not only a constraint on human beings, but also a kind of training. Those who are single, though they seem to be generous with their money, are often hard hearted, because they do not know how to love others.

A good custom, like Ulysses, who resisted the charms of the goddess of beauty, and remained faithful to his wife.

A single woman is often arrogant. Because she needs to show that her chastity seems to be voluntarily maintained.

If a woman is proud of her husband's intelligence and excellence, that is the best guarantee of her faithfulness. But if a woman finds her husband jealous, she will never think him wise.

In life, a wife is the lover of youth, the companion of middle age and the guardian of old age. So it makes sense to get married at any time in one's life, as long as there is the right person.

But there was also an ancient philosopher who had this to say about the question of when one should marry: "Not when one is young, but not when one is old." ① Ulysses: the hero of Homer's epic. He was one of the leaders of a group of Greek soldiers who had invaded Troy, and he was very resourceful. He was once trapped on an island, loved by Krypso, a fairy, and promised to live forever. But he thought of the love between husband and wife, rejected the fairy and returned to his wife. A happy marriage is a rare thing. It is often seen that many husbands who are not identical have a beautiful wife. Could it be that such husbands are all the more worthy of being valued for their few virtues? Perhaps because such a husband would test a woman's patience, her strength and her spirit? If a woman chooses this marriage of her own accord, even against the advice of her friends and relatives, then let her taste the fruit for herself.
