The Lost Puppy
How a small act of care brought a whole village together.

Amina was a 12 year old girl who lived in a quiet village with fields and forests around it. She loved animals above everything else. She would go to the fields near her school every day after school and play with the birds, feed the stray cats, and even take care of the cows grazing idly in the meadows at times.
On one sunny spring morning, when walking to school, Amina noticed a soft whimpering noise emanating from the bushes alongside the road. Being curious and concerned, she approached and found a small shivering puppy. It was covered with mud and wet, weak and frightened-looking. Amina's heart softened upon seeing this.
At once, without thinking twice, she took hold of the puppy tenderly and rolled it around her scarf. She knew it would not stay behind alone so resolved to carry it home at school time. Throughout the day, she couldn't help worrying about the creature, hoping that it was safely in place, hiding it out from sight nearby the school yard.
The moment school ended, Amina ran back to the location. To her luck, the puppy was still waiting patiently. She took it home and introduced it to her mother. Her mother, although shocked, consented to Amina keeping the puppy until they located its owner.
Amina bathed the puppy, gave it warm milk to drink, and created a warm bed for it by the fire. She also named the puppy Lucky because she thought he was lucky that he had been found before something terrible could have occurred. Amina and Lucky were inseparable over the next couple of days. Lucky was with her everywhere she went whether she was studying, playing, or assisting her mom in the kitchen.
Within days, news about the lost puppy had spread around the village. Lucky was seen by many of the villagers, and some had even brought presents of food and toys for him. But not a single villager came out to claim him.
A week later, a neighbor from the other side of the village came by. It was an old man named Mr. Kareem. He came to Amina's house and gazed at Lucky with opened eyes. "This is my grandson's puppy!" he shouted. "We have been looking everywhere for him. He probably wandered away when they came to see me last week.
Amina felt sad but realized that Lucky should be with his family. She picked him up gently and handed him over to Mr. Kareem. "Take good care of him," she whispered, her eyes brimming with tears.
Mr. Kareem was moved by the kindness of Amina. "You have a heart of gold, my child," he told her. He went back to Amina's home a few days later with his grandson and Lucky. They thanked her once again and, as a token of appreciation, left her a nice drawing kit, aware of how much she adored drawing.
But that was not all. The villagers, moved by Amina's compassion and love for animals, thought of starting a small animal shelter in the village. They constructed a secure place where stray or lost animals could be taken care of until they found a home.
Amina was thrilled. Something that had begun as a kind gesture had escalated into something that would benefit a lot of animals for years to come. Lucky continued to come to see her frequently, wagging his tail contentedly every time he spotted her.
Amina realized that even the smallest act of kindness can be incredibly powerful, not only for one life but for a whole community.
Moral Of The Story:
