The Instagram Hacker (Part One)
We all have that one friend that will go to the end of the Earth to see us happy. The friend that will hurt people to see us smile. A friend that will hack into our men's social media to find their pregnant side pieces. A friend ready to risk it all.
For years it had seemed that my skills as a P.I. had only been confined to the group chat where my girls and I would swap information about the men we'd meet. I hardly had the time to be Keisha Bond, what with my two jobs, school, and three Yorkies. Yasmine, Wanda, and Cleo made being a fur mom the most pleasurable experience. Life had been busy for me lately, but my girls counted on me to get the job done when it came to finding out the tea on their men. I didn't mind. It felt like my purpose in this small town of Madison, Georgia.
Lainey had been waiting to hear from her boyfriend for several days since he had left for his boy's trip. Sure, she told him to have fun, but she never told him to fall off the face of the Earth. That's when we start acting crazy, and these men want to know why. The two of them had been in a relationship for years. You'd think the basic elements of respect would be a no-brainer, but here I was about to stalk yet another of my friend's boyfriends for them. Hopefully, this time she would leave him.
I had just pulled into Lainey's driveway. Through my dusty windshield, Lainey could be seen sitting pitifully on her porch. Her shoulders drooped as she stared into her phone. There was a heavy defeat that lingered behind her eyes. Something had to be terribly wrong. Hesitantly I made my way to her stoop.
"Hi Lane," I broke the silence, "What's wrong?"
Lainey swallowed hard. A slight tremor shook her chin. Her eyeliner ran down her cheeks.
"He...he blocked me." She sniffled, staring back into her phone.
A small gasp escaped my lips. In an instant, my palm met my chest, and my mouth fell to the floor.
"He what?!" Each eye became wide as a saucer as I awaited her response.
She motioned for me to come inside her home. There had to be a lot to this story because as we made it to the living room, two wine glasses were waiting for us on the table next to a massive bottle of the cheapest wine you could find. My glass was full, and Lainey's glass was wet with remanence of what she had just set into her encasement of anxiety.
She poured herself another glass, gulping it down before sliding her Macbook across the coffee table.
"We need to figure this out." She whimpered, dabbing the corners of her eyes with a Kleenex.
Peering cautiously at the screen, the Instagram login screen met my eyes. My eyes met Lainey's.
"What do you want me to do?" I inquired, biting the inside of my cheek and narrowing my eyes at her.
"I need you to get me into Eric's account. He is up to something, and I intend to find out what." Lainey matter-of-factly folded her arms, wiping the snot from her nose.
My hand compassionately gripped Lainey's knee.
"Are you sure you are ready to find out what is going on?" My face melted into a sympathetic expression.
Lainey began to cry.
"Yes." She softly whimpered.
There I sat, thinking of how I would make my way into this jerk's Instagram to find countless women on top of even more lies.
"How are you going to do it?" Lainey somberly questioned.
Typing away on the computer, I read the words that popped up after using numerous techniques to acquire his account information.
"Reset your password," I whispered to myself.
"Huh?" Lainey asked, peering over my shoulder.
"His password. I'm going to reset his password." I stated proudly.
My fingers frantically hit the keys as I began the process of tearing this liar's kingdom down. I confirmed the answers to his security questions with Lainey, and within ten minutes, we had gained access to the account, locking him out.
Lainey sat reading dozens of DMs between him and girls he had no business talking to. Her eyes filled with tears, and the heartbreak physically shook her.
Lainey let out a blood-curdling scream that sent me flying from
"She's pregnant!!" Lainey wailed.
Instantly I knew this wasn't over. I had to find out the truth about what he was doing to her. We had to get on a plane. Off to the group chat, I went.
