"Bam...." "Has any train been deceived by the bus heart"? I am afraid. When I was sleeping at home, I had a train dream and ran to the gate. But there will be no train and no hearing. In the initial period of my employment, this job of gatekeeper occupied my mind completely.
We are basically a track man. But like multi-tasking works, we don't have any definition of what this job is. Such is the gatekeeper job we see.
My first day as a gatekeeper was very stressful. However, the way I handled it still gave me goosebumps. Even our other tasks can't be jeopardized by the careless. But even a small lapse of attention in the gatekeeper's job can create a huge risk.
But I know very well that our hard work, our skill and our service will not be known to the public. Every day we are exposed directly to thousands of people's harsh words, cursing and cursing. When you read in the news papers about the heinous acts of some people attacking the gatekeepers and hearing them say, "This is what they want!", we never falter in our work even for a single day. How many gatekeepers' labor is involved! It is one thing that the majority of the public does not think that all the labor of so many invisible workers is pouring into it..!
My first day of day duty was very good and the trains ran very alertly. The railway gate where I worked was in a desert. Traffic is infrequent.
It is always a closed gate. But when there is no train, in case there is road traffic, the gate should be opened with the approval of the station master with the secret number and then the gate should be closed again with the approval of the secret number.
This can't be done simply as open and close. When the road traffic is opened, if sudden train traffic occurs unexpectedly, it will be a major accident. Therefore, red flag should always be displayed on the railway road when the train is not coming. The gate keeper will take a few seconds to get approval from the station master to direct the road traffic. But that does not apply to the common road users. They will go on saying, "What have you asked and left?"
In the last hour of my first day's work due to heavy rain and wind, the boom tilted slightly and the gate did not close to lock. I have to block road traffic based on the training given to us despite fear and trembling. The first experience was different so I was a bit nervous. I sent the train safely that day by putting on safety chains.
When all the safeguards are in place the train reaches its scheduled time target very easily. That is the success of employees like us. Each of the gatekeepers is capable of correcting any of the above abnormal conditions.
At the same gate a few years ago a goods train was blocked while on duty one day. Some road transport passengers were also standing on the opposite road. I am waiting in the direction of the train with the flag in my hand. A few seconds pass and "Open the gate..!" As the authoritative voice sounded, I was careful with my angle of view. Again the same voice "Did you hear me..! My brother had an accident on the road and I have to go!" asked loudly. "Brother, the train has arrived... As soon as it leaves, I'll listen to for a while, please!" I said.
"Hey, are you going to break your rules now or not?" he said.
The goods train has arrived just saying "I can't jump, please understand!" After I dispatched that train, I put a red flag and removed the gate only after receiving open approval from the station master. The road traveler came straight to me and said, "Don't come here, I'm going in a hurry... I'll come and hide you in the night!" He threatened. "Yo what you did was wrong...do whatever you want!" I recorded his cab number and complained to my superior. The men were then punished by the police.
In this, our work is not only about teaching justice. Many lives are coming in that train depending on one gate keeper. It is my humble request that not only us but also you the public should have the responsibility to cooperate.
Our working hours are twelve hours maximum. You have to stay there during working hours, take the necessary food and leave.
When all safeguards are in place at work, our risk is minimal. In case of any accident we have to run many kilometers to protect the train. Also, running on rails can be very difficult. More specifically, everything should be done alone.
A healthy body alone is not enough for this task, the mind must also be healthy. Because many employees have lost not only their jobs but also their lives due to family problems and carelessness.
A friend of mine got a job as a gatekeeper at a young age. As if he had been in love with a girl. He committed suicide in a moving train as no one in his family accepted his love.
