The Destruction of Words and How They Affect the World
Don't hold back the future generations because of your ignorance.

"You're only a child."
"Well since I'm older, I am more wise."
"Stay out of grown folks business."
I had heard those words leave the lips of my loved ones; That I didn't know what I was talking about because they had years on me. Or how I simply should stay out of the conversation because I was younger. Ha, how words are destructive
Politics was and still is one of the things I surround myself with. Not so I can force my beliefs on others or to feel accomplished because I had some info on the world around me.
My only thought and goal was, "What can I do, and how can I achieve that?"
I felt as if I was doing absolutely nothing beneficial to others, and my elders and loved ones only fueled that thought process with their not-so-positive comments. And maybe this was to save my hurt mind and put it on something other than myself, but now as I have evolved into a speaker I am proud of I can say that I live to show perspectives and be the voice of others who are not heard. That my mind was not hurt, but just needing the revitalization of hope.
The reason I write this message is to bring awareness to parents and authority figures on how these things are destructive. To improve your teaching and help communicate in more healthy ways. We are raising generations in the making, aren't we? So instead of bringing down our young individuals, we should learn and enlighten them and ourselves.
So to start: What is going on and what is our problem?
Currently our world is on the brink of collapsing.
Climate change is currently killing off animals and causing droughts and heat waves that are destroying our crops, land, and water outlets. We are killing people for oil and currency is extremely corrupt. Places like the United States are still playing popularity and power races. Ethnic cleansing and wars are happening right under our noses or if we are aware of it, we aren't doing anything to stop it, or even worse, treating it as a trend. And let's not even talk about women and people of color or especially WPOC and how their rights are slowly but surely being taken away. And still so much more, yet we (and this more so for older generations if I'm honest) are still caught up on who someone is kissing and how they identify.
If I'm honest, this is some goofy behavior..
Next: Older generations and their effect
I have heard the words "Well, they were born in a different time." And to be blunt.. That is one of the most astronomically dense excuses.
Yes, poor, decrepit Cheryl was born in the 50's. Yes, that was awhile ago and some may say it's technically another time, and if we are using technical and "by word" terms, then yes, they were born in a different time. But to say that so you can sugarcoat their arrogance and disrespect is destructive on your part. You are giving them the power to use hateful ways due to the fact they are old. Sorry, but it's true.
But let's get back on track. Most generations after Gen X and even before if you really think about it were raised on that thought process.
The reason: Women's rights movement, lifting segregation, accepting the fact that people are gay *kinda* and getting use to the new "Openness", I guess. At the time, they were either raised oppressed or the white cis male, and I say "white cis male" because even if women had the right to have a voice they still aren't heard. Most older people have dealt with this corrupt and conservative (low-key kinda backwoods too) society and are use to their either racist, sexist, homophobic [etc.. etc..] ways. But now that we are in a place of "wokeness" and "acceptance" we have to let go. DO NOT forget nor forgive but to let go and grow in a way where we are aware of our past mistakes but do not intend to repeat them. Being wrapped up in the past morphs how we think and act in the present and future. We must stop normalizing gross behavior because of an old and outdated society we should have left alone a long time ago.
Now: How do we address and fix these problems to have a healthier future?
It is possible to grow, which most find hard. But if you want change, you need to try. Here are ways where we can all improve to be better humans:
Listen and communicate
Listening is an amazing way to grow and find new perspectives to challenge your own. Not only do you deserve kudos for listening but you definitely deserve it if you are active in the conversation. Listen, ask questions, spark new ideas. Converse over all.
Leave a mark
For those who aren't socially "there", which it's okay not to be, fill petitions, write, spread awareness, or even go to a protest. For those in the US, you were given the 1st amendment, so use it. Things will happen, think of it as character development!
Get over the minor things
At the end of the day, boys are gonna kiss boys and likewise for girls. People are still gonna believe what they want to be believe. People will still identify however they want (and I am not in support for the people who identify themselves as ACAB/ACABSELF or BLM/BLMSELF and other movements (nor do I support "trans-racial") I feel it is more of a mockery to real life movements than a help. Find some new pronouns Emily.)
Get over it. No one is asking, or at least they shouldn't be asking you to be an ally or even support it. I understand, certain things go against certain beliefs but the least you can do is respect them as a person. Don't got nothing nice to say, don't say it at all. Or invest in a journal, your own little burn book girlie. Just don't let it get loose.
Think about the bigger things
Pick up garbage, listen to viable news stations, car pool, just put awareness on the mass productions of animals.. Thinking about that and seeing the dangers of it makes it pretty valid to talk about.
And like I said previously bring awareness and signing petitions does so much! There is no time to think about the small, insignificant things when our world is going through it.
We are raising generations for success, for our better world. We will not get anywhere by telling the youth of today to stay out of world conversations. It causes them to simply exists in a failing society. Just because older people have blocked mindsets and fear of growth should not stop us from making a place of equality and unity.
And for those who do have a lack of growth, either learn to grow or stay out of it.
