According to Wikipedia “ Beauty is commonly described as a feature of objects that makes these objects pleasurable to perceive. Such objects include landscapes, sunsets, humans and works of art. Beauty, together with art and taste, is the main subject of aesthetics, one of the major branches of philosophy .

While Ugliness is defined as Unattractiveness or ugliness is the degree to which a person's physical features are considered aesthetically unfavorable,

As they say the “Beauty Lies in the Eyes of the beholder “ if a person thinks the other person is beautiful or ugly based on their own individual perception ,belief and other cultural factors of influence ..In India we associate Beauty with being fair which is not the correct way to judge the beauty of person as our skin color ,shape the way we look ,our height are all dependent on multiple genetic factors so there is rich genetic diversity which makes some beautiful while others not so beautiful.

India is obsessed with light skin which shows a patriarchal mindset while in other countries being light colored doe not qualify you to be beautiful ,Norwegian women are the most beautiful while Britons are among the ugliest people in the world, according to a website “for beautiful people only”. Wikipedia describes beauty as a characteristic of objects that makes them appealing to the eye. Such objects include landscapes, sunsets, humans and works of art. Beauty, together with art and taste, is the main subject of aesthetics, one of the major branches of philosophy.

While Ugliness is defined as Unattractiveness or ugliness is the degree to which a person's physical features are considered aesthetically unfavorable.

According to a popular saying, "Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder" which refers to how a person perceives another person to be beautiful or ugly based on cultural values and cultural perspective. In India, we associate beauty with fairness. However, this is not an accurate way to judge the beauty of people. This is because skin color, shape, and height are all determined by genetic factors. Therefore, there is a great deal of genetic diversity that makes some people beautiful and others not so.

According to the website "for beautiful people only" Indians are obsessed with light skin, which reflects a patriarchal mindset, while in Norway, light skin is not a prerequisite for handsomeness, while Britons are ranked among the world's ugliest people.

This conclusion was arrived after fewer than one in eight British men (12 per cent) and just three in 20 women (15 per cent) who have applied to ‘BeautifulPeople.com’ have been accepted as members…What is really funny is the MD of this website Greg Hodge is himself from UK but has no idea why UK people are less accepted compared to others but one possible.

Why We Favor Attractive People Over Unattractive People:

We all are victims of Halo effect Psychologists explain this pattern in human beings where you take one aspect of somebody - like their physical attractiveness - as a proxy for their overall character. First coined back in 1920, the halo effect describes how our impression of a person forms a halo around our conception of their character. The better someone looks, the better a person we think they are.

A Harvard professor of psychiatry, Dr. Alvin F. Pouissant, states, “People tend to think that those who have attractive looks are more trustworthy or honest than people who are not attractive.” A whole list of attributes such as intelligent, happy, sociable, aggressive, healthy, and fun are assigned to attractive people.

Below-average people are perceived as less intelligent, unhappy, withdrawn, and even unhealthy. This inborn idea of beauty vs versus ugly and deficient may offer a reason as to why attractive people earn more and receive more help.

The Downside of Attractive

Very attractive people, especially women, complain that they are not taken seriously. Co-workers view their beauty as a means to get ahead rather than take job performance into consideration. Beautiful people stir up the jealous side of others and can become the target for jokes, backstabbing, and general ill-will.

What should be done to help people who perceive themselves as less attractive succeed in life?

1. Embrace the truth that God has blessed you with a life ... Let's make the best of it.

2. Keep your own stand in your life, and don't worry about what others think about you.

3. Possess independent thinking and a positive attitude.

4. You must not waste your time complaining to God why you made me like this. Instead, be thankful that he has blessed you with life with a purpose. Therefore, work towards achieving your goal.

5. No matter how your appearance is always strive to remain fit physically being health with sound mind is a major aspect to lead a good life .

6. You can prove your detractors wrong by leading a Normal Life and being an Example for others to follow.

When you doubt your self-worth, remember the lotus flower. Even though it plunges to life from beneath the mud, it does not allow the dirt that surrounds it to affect its growth or beauty. Be that lotus flower always. Do not allow any negativity or ugliness in your surroundings destroy your confidence, affect your growth, or make you question your self-worth.” ― Suzy Kassem.

Remember You cannot change the color of your skin but you can change how you think about yourself.

Racial prejudices and Superiority Complex will always exist as long as Humankind exists, so let's learn to live with them so we can move forward.
