As they grow older, their children develop a personality that changes their temperament, changes their interests, develops their physical abilities, and so on. We also wrote about how to choose the sports activity for the child according to these particularities. Now, to answer the dilemma, what do we choose: team or individual sports? First of all, let's study the advantages of both types of sports.

7 advantages of individual sports

The child develops at his own pace.

The little athlete does not feel frustrated or guilty because he is overwhelmed by his peers. He does not face the pressure that comes from team members and does not feel obligated to anyone but himself. Thus, the child has enough time and individual space to develop, to evolve, to achieve their performance.

The child becomes an individualist.

Individual sports activities develop individualism in the child, in a constructive sense. This does not mean that the little one will put his interests above the interests of others, but this will form a strong personality, with high self-esteem, with their own well-defined opinions and goals.

The child becomes more independent and responsible.

Success and failure depend only on oneself. The little athlete has no one to blame for his defeats and, on the contrary, he can fully enjoy the victories due to his effort. This is how an ambitious and determined personality is formed to achieve goals, regardless of obstacles or circumstances.

Individual sports are safer.

The risk of collisions between children blows, accidents is lower in individual sports than in team sports. Such sports are recommended, especially for physically frail children.

The child receives more attention from the coach.

In individual sports, the coach pays more time and attention to the child, individually approaching the little one's development plan.

The child becomes more independent.

Children, who practice an individual sport, usually do not depend on the presence or absence of peers in training, such as in a team sport. For example, it will be easy for the little tennis player to learn the shots on his own, unlike a football player dependent on his team.

The child is more motivated.

All the benefits listed above lead to the formation of the child's ability to self-motivate, both in sports and in life.

7 advantages of team sports

The child learns to work in a team.

The little one learns to cooperate with others to achieve a collective goal. He makes every effort and strives to do his best not to disappoint his team.

The child develops communication skills.

He learns to negotiate, resolve certain conflicts that may arise between team members, argue his own opinion and integrate into a community.

The child becomes more disciplined and responsible.

The little one understands that he is part of a team and that the others depend on him. Aware of this, he is motivated to put more effort into performing.

The child learns to respect others and to ask to be respected.

Teamwork helps him to form his own opinion, to listen to other opinions, and to give in, if necessary. Good results in a team can only be when there is mutual respect, both during the game and off the field.

Team sports stimulate the child to be better.

Even if they are a team, there will be competition for the top athletes among the little athletes. The child will make every effort to improve his skills to be the best.

The child develops social skills.

Each member of the team has a role to play. The team captain learns to lead the actions of other teammates, and the goalkeeper - if we talk about football, to defend the goal with all responsibility and to make quick decisions in critical situations. These skills are undoubtedly valuable in other areas of life, even in adulthood.

The child learns to divide.

Success and failure are shared by all team members. This makes victories more glorious and sweet and defeats easier.

Advantages are both in individual and team sports. So what will you choose? All types of sports are generally beneficial for mental and physical well-being, as well as for building self-confidence and discipline.

We recommend that you pay attention to the child's wishes and needs, as well as how the chosen sport can help him in the future. You can experiment. Enroll your child first in an individual sport, then in a team sport. Talk to the child and see what he wants.

The parent must inspire the child to choose the right sport. And one more thing, avoid the typical mistakes that most adults make from the very beginning.
