Dream Date
Zandy paused a moment before entering the lobby. She squeezed her eyes shut and fought back her fight or flight instincts, which were definitely leaning toward flight. "Deep breaths, deep, deep breaths," she told herself as she took a step forward to descend the small staircase leading to the lobby. To her right, she saw men and women dressed in suits and shiny shoes, that were likely fresh hours before but were now wilting under the press of business travel. Shifting from foot to foot,to ease their aching feet they were lined up to check into the hotel. To her left, she could see the beginning of happy hour brewing in the lobby bar area. Men and women eager to let alcohol take away the monotony of the day. They were leaning in to close to one another, and touching in provocative, but not yet inappropriate ways. Taking in the scene, Zandy wasn't sure why she told "Mr. too good to be true" she would meet him there. Initially, it seemed like a nice public place for a casual introduction. If things went well, they might move to one of the hotel's restaurants for dinner. If things went really well…

The Last Glass
A first date is a first step in a new direction, whether or not I’m ready for it is an entirely different matter. I realize this as the crosswalk signal prompts me to continue. I wonder if it’s too late to cancel, but I already know it is considering the reservation begins in less than five minutes. I find the strength to cross the paused traffic and emerge on the other side unscathed. I’d like to say I was able to cross the intersection due to some newfound courage, but I know it’s due to ever present ache in my feet desperate for reprieve.

Resonating Energy
It was mid Spring, the weather outside was the perfect blend of cool and warm. I was enjoying my favorite glass of merlot while sitting on a blanket and reading one of my favorite books. Out of nowhere a huge dog comes barreling towards me, before I could react the dog licked my face. Thank goodness, he was just a big friendly puppy who had escaped his owners’ grasp. I have always been a magnet for animals, almost as if they believe they know me. While I was getting to know my affectionate admirer, his person approached. He was very apologetic, and extremely handsome. He was tall, broad shoulders, not too big like those over-compensating guys you see coming out of the gym twice a day, he was just perfectly chiseled with a golden complexion. I managed to give him my name when he asked and told him it was okay, no harm done. He noticed the dog had toppled over my glass of merlot. He asked if I would allow him to take me to dinner, as an apology for the spilt mess. I was slightly slow to answer, because I thought I has daydreaming at first, but when he asked me a second time as if he assumed I simply didn’t hear him, I said yes. He asked for my number so that he could call me later on to get my address, and to make sure I hadn’t changed my mind. I was blushing like a teenager, usually I am well versed, with a minutia of witty things to say, but I was so taken by him, that I stumbled over the digits in my phone number, I felt my face getting hotter and was afraid he might hear my heart pounding, so I politely and clumsily offered a feeble see you later. I gathered all of my things as quickly as possible, wanting to escape so I could get myself in check, I had no clue why he had such a strong affect on me. I had dated great looking men, my ex-husband was great looking (too bad he turned out to have nothing else great to offer), I knew this guys’ looks had nothing to do with the strong affect he was having on me. I started walking towards my car, and tripped before I could take two steps, before he had the chance to help me, I popped back up and turned to him to offer a bow for my “intentional stunt”. I had a smile on my face, this way he wouldn’t feel like he had to resist laughing for my ego’s sake. When you are clumsy, you learn to laugh at yourself, knowing that, it is a funny sight to see, people just fight laughter out of kindness.

My Girlfriend Saved Me with Animal Crossing
I’m not a big fan of Animal Crossing. I find the game to be counter to the two things that I instinctively look for in a video game: epic narrative and high octane action. On the other hand, Animal Crossing has a threadbare story, just enough to justify catching bugs and paying your loans.

My First Date in Two Years
Before the world was shaken up by this global pandemic, my personal world was already disrupted. Having been seriously ill and fighting for my next breath, I quickly grew to appreciate each new moment and each person sharing it with me. I was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune disease that ravaged my muscles. This disease I had never heard of before, had a vendetta against my lungs. And it wasn’t going to stop attacking until my lungs stopped functioning.

The Young Magician
The Young Magician Up until that moment, the entertainer had caught the audience's attention, most of them being 10-year-old kids invited to celebrate the birthday of one of them. There were also several parents watching amusedly the magic show, as well the sister of the birthday boy, a young lady in her early twenties with delicate features and long, curly black hair.

I'm Gonna Fall
Spring has been unleashed, and I so want to bottle it. There’s nothing quite like a Saturday morning drenched in sunny rays and aqua blues. A feeling that ‘today is all mine’, and yet you want the world to share it with you. An atmosphere that percolates your brain with creativity and desires to do it all. But sometimes doing nothing is the choicest desire of all, as long as you do it well.

Wandering Dreams
As they drive down the old dirt road lined by large oak trees and the sound of crickets chirping he glances at her. It's a warm day, windows are down, and the sweet breeze of summer flows through the car. She sits in the passenger seat of his car. Her brown hair flowing from the breeze. He notices the shimmer of gold in her hair as the sunlight hits it just right. Indie folk music quietly plays through the car speakers and she sings ever so softly the lyrics. To him there is nothing better than this.

Marina Merlot
Even her name was sexy. Marina Merlot. It was reminiscent of Marilyn Monroe, but this beautiful woman was so much more. She was elegant, refined, assured, and sophisticated. The stylish dark maroon dress she wore was a perfect fit with her lithe body, black hair and dark, knowing eyes that seemed to search out your most intimate secrets but hide her own. There was an intriguing sense of mystery about her that lit a fire in me. I had to be with her and learn everything about her.

Lightning Bolts
The thing about good days is the speed in which the universe, God, or whatever greater power it is that you believe in, can spin around and strike you with a ferocious bolt of lightning, burying you under in a hellfire of hurt, pain and desperation.

Reminisce
It's a busy night at the bistro, the maitre'D asks about table 7, turning to the waitress he says "he is usually on time, every month for the last 20 years, never this late, I hope he's OK?', the waitress responds, "don't worry he will be here, I have his wine ready, his table for 2, how long has it been...", The maitre D interrupts, there he is!
