Whether written centuries ago or just last year, literary couples show that love is timeless.
Little black book
They say if you speak something into existence then it surely will happen. Growing up my grandmother was my best friend. My sister always had friends to stay with wile I on the other hand was an out cast because I got blessed with bright red hair. My grandma always had a beautiful upbeat personality and still does to this day. I was invited to stay with grandma every weekend it seems like. Saturday mornings we would get up early and go into town to daylight donuts before our day began.

Wonderland
She lazily browsed the shelves of the dusty antiques store and took a deep breath. It was warm and smelled homey and, for the first time since she had come to the city, quiet enough to hear herself think. She sighed, knowing she couldn’t possibly afford anything in here. She had only fifteen dollars left in her purse. Just enough for a ticket home. Back to everything she had so desperately wanted to leave behind. But it was no good, everything in the city was so expensive and no matter how hard she had tried she now had no choice but to go back. But not just yet. She couldn’t bear it. Just five minutes more in the peace of this little shop. She trailed her hand along a row of books until her sleeve caught the corner of a small black notebook and knocked it to the ground. She picked it up and turned it over, running a thumb over the flowing gold cursive stamped into the cover; Write Me. She laughed and muttered to herself, “Ok Alice, time to come back from Wonderland now.” She flipped through the pages, delicate ivory parchment, completely blank. It felt heavy in her hands, a comforting weight. Her heart ached at the thought of putting it back on the shelf, and instead she found herself taking it over to the counter, “excuse me, how much is this book?”

To My Galaxy
No job. No money. And now, no boyfriend, which also meant Andromeda Cartier, a 30-year-old Black woman with no prospects, or degree, no longer had a roof over her head in Chicago. Ursula, her mother back home in New Orleans, warned of foolishness from city boys. Andromeda ignored her mom's intuition and cut off all communication with her entirely. Their silence was going on 3 years.. To make matters worse, David, a John Henry looking brother, with significantly less morale, hovered over her while she packed, a shed her tears. He didn't want to have a reason to let her back in the house. She wasn't sure if she ever lived there to begin with. Andromeda had made a bed she couldn't even lay in.

The light from the black
Hello again my little black friend, It has been a long time since I last wrote inside your pages. But nevertheless, I am doing well. Grandma however, isn’t. She has gotten worse since last week and I have spent all my time with her as much as I can. Dave said that I shouldn’t even try spending my time I have left with her. It would only cause more heartbreak in the end. That was the last time he spoke to me since he has now moved out and in with his new girlfriend. Figures that he was cheating on me it wasn’t like he really cared. Well, I must be going, I will write soon again.

The Blank Page
Wilson stared sullenly at the blank word document. He promised himself that this would be the year he would write his story. The first steps in writing were always the most difficult. His mind wandered over the canvas, as if exploring the hidden textures of the digital sheet. The blank canvas was beautiful. It represented an entire universe yet to be seen. It held the untold story of people not listened too. His eyes stopped one inch from the edge of the left side of the page. This blank canvas, where the marginalized merged in with everything else, represented himself. It was his story.

Thousands to Be
Lila sat on the stained couch and drew a slow breath. The lottery ticket shivered in her hand. The glow from the muted television reflected off the small paper, highlighting the numbers that matched the screen. All the numbers were identical, yet Lila stared ahead unfocused.

A Fine Time
"I don't enjoy going to parties, and to be honest, tonight is no exception. The only reason I'm going is because of my social status... Or something like that. I started my own company and become extremely successful... Big deal, right? Everyone else seems to think so, but I don't care as much as I lead myself on to believe.

Message In The Snow
Michael left his apartment for a short walk to his local convienient store. It had been snowing heavily but let up as he trudged through it. A block from home he noticed a small black book That had been dropped, must have been recently as it was not covered with the snow. He picked it up, continued on his trek then returned home. The book was a distinctive Moleskin with the elastic band to keep it closed. Opening it he found page after page with numbers in groups of three, five, seven and nine, an obvious code of some sorts. Michael had a backround in math and decided to try to break the code.

Lucy and her little black book
There she was, Lucy, sitting in the middle of her AP English class staring out the window into the sunlight, jotting something down in her little black book. At first glance it seemed Lucy was taking notes, she was always good at creating an illusion. However, when you come closer you see that it says "I choose to bring fulfillment to someone's life."
