The Bill Criminalizing Medicine for Transgender Youth
On Thursday, April 7, 2022, the legislature of Alabama, in which the Republican party has a majority, approved a bill that would make it a crime for doctors to prescribe hormone blockers or hormone replacement therapy to transgender children. The sentence for this class C felony would be up to 10 years in prison.

For Dating Purposes: How to Spot a Lesbian
How to Spot a Lesbian Throughout my life I've been told that it is a lot harder to spot a lesbian than a gay man, that women find it easier to hide their sexual orientation, or even that lesbians don't exist (don't fall for that last one, kids).

I Once Thought Bill Maher Was Funny. Top Story - June 2022.
Back in the late 1990s when I was trying hard to work as an actor, the advice pretty universally seemed to be, “if you can do ANYTHING else, do it. Because this is hard. It often sucks. And few of us ever make any money.” They usually went on to say, “but if it’s all you can see yourself doing, keep going.”

Gender Reveal Parties are So Problematic
In my twenty seven years, I've never once been invited to a gender reveal party, and I cannot tell you how happy I am about this. This type of party is controversial and problematic in more ways than one, and not only this, but they can be dangerous too! Of course, despite its creator despising the trend, the "gender reveal party" remains alive and popular among (mostly) Millennial parents. Truthfully, this trend needs to be killed.

I Discovered I’m Demisexual and I Don’t Know What to Do About It
I haven’t had much of a romantic life and I’ve just turned 50. To my family and my best friend, this is rarely if ever mentioned. To be fair, to my family and my best friend, it’s never been an area of any concern. To them, I suppose, it’s just always been “Natalie just doesn’t do that kind of thing… just the way she is.” For my father, I think it was a relief. He was very protective and a bit on the old fashioned side.

Take the News of the Day in Small Doses.
My fiancé and I are finally putting the finishing touches on our podcast. We’ve been mulling the idea for years, pausing as our world turned upside down and inside out in 2020/21, and finally we returned to the idea for 2022. We’ve recorded four episodes thus far so we can listen, take notes, tighten the format, and decide how we want it all to work. I’m pleased with our progress, and we’re getting close to a product we will be proud to share. We are a black queer cis man and a white queer trans woman discussing the news and current events we find interesting. (Or absurd.) We really want to get this right. We’re nearly ready to introduce the baby.

Of course you love your family… (maybe, with caveats, assuming they aren’t LGBTQ+ if you choose not to “believe in them”…)
I’m quite fond of the words of Khalil Gibran. So much of his poetry has infused and informed my life. This one (slightly edited) in particular, stuck, it’s called On Children:
