humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Will Boys Be Boys?
I have a male friend who paints his toenails. He prefers glitter polish, usually in blues or purples. He is meticulous about his nails, refusing to wear sandals if his polish is chipped or grown out. He prefers shirts with beautiful abstract patterns and bright colors. He would really like to dye his hair a bright color - neon green would be his ideal. Since by now you have a good mental image of this 6’2” 250 lb guy, I feel like I need to clarify that he is straight.

Who Killed Me?
Although I won't be using any names, I’m sure you will get the idea of what happened during this period in my life. It all started around the age of 15, like any normal fifteen-year-old girl, I would spend days at my friend’s house. Going out shopping, doing our hair, doing our makeup, doing our nails, listening to music, and just hanging out with the family.

Santiago
I had been waiting my entire life for a moment to come along that I thought would change who I was. I wanted something inspiring. Something that made me think: This is why I am here. This is what I want to work for. I was able to grasp that moment this summer.

Emotionally Unemotional
It's always something small. Your spouse, your parents, a friend, literally anyone you love says or does the littlest thing. Even though you know it's ridiculous for such a little thing to hurt your feelings, it still does. But, knowing it's ridiculous doesn't make the pain stop, instead you feel your heart cracking into a million little pieces. It's a physical pain, one that can almost feel like you're dying, but at the same time is incredibly easy to hide from the world.

A "Surface" Understanding of Millennials
I encountered a video onFacebook by 8list about how Millennials are and how Millennials perceive themselves. Delamar, the lady on the video, broke it down to a list of why Gen Xers are different to Millennials and why Gen Xers are frustrated with the Millennials. Delamar made a really interesting point on how we should view Millennials individually and not use their differences against them.

It's Over Now
She stood there, shaking. The reflection she saw of herself in the mirror was unrecognizable. Her face was bruised. Her hair was tangled and there were multiple lacerations on her neck. Blood was gushing everywhere, but she didn’t try to stop the bleeding.

She Can, He Can
So me, my Mom, and my sister were on our way home and talking about cutting beards or whatever and I brought up how stupid it was for some women to ask their partner to shave a beard they clearly love having. I didn’t mean they shouldn’t ask, but just hear me out.

I Was Demoted After Being Sexually Harassed. Top Story - September 2017.
I've worked every entry level job under the sun; some for days, some for years. I've done everything from answering phones behind a desk, to flipping burgers in a greasy kitchen. However, even with a varying background of experience, nothing could have prepared me for this.

Looking For Something
There’s a girl in every crowd looking for something she fears will never be found. Still, she looks. She looks because every romantic movie and every love song, every couple celebrating their 50th anniversary tells her that she’ll find it someday. And in her heart she kindles a bit of hope that she’s capable of finding it, when her head tells her that she’s not—that she’s damaged. In every crowd there is a girl with a ghost for a smile, still looking for something she fears she’ll never find.

September 11, 2001
16 years ago today, at 8 am started out like every other day for everyday Americans. Families were eating breakfast. Kids were running towards the classic yellow school buses to join their friends for another day of school. Husbands were straightening their ties as wives were tidying up the kitchen. Many were boarding planes, not knowing the nightmare that awaited them. Everything was so blessedly normal for 46 minutes. At 8:46 am on September 11, 2001, is when so many worlds belonging to multiple people flipped upside down. It was that very moment that the United States of America began its spiral into chaos.

Am I a Bigot?
It has been 16 years since that horrific day. Sixteen years have passed and so have 3,000+ people. Yes, it was just over a decade and a half since four planes were hijacked and used as weapons against the citizenry of the United States. The first two planes hit both towers of the World Trade Center here in NYC. Another hit the Pentagon in Washington, DC. The final plane was intentionally crashed in an empty field in Shanksville, Pennsylvania. Many people naturally fled the areas fearing more attacks while a brave few ran toward the crash sites in the hopes of rescuing as many people as they could. Many, unfortunately, perished in what had to be the worst attack since Pearl Harbor and, without question, the worst attack in my lifetime.

Where Were You When September 11 Happened?
I know I'm certainly not unique when I say I was stunned beyond belief when the September 11 attacks occurred. I remember, at the very least, the way that day started. September 11, 2001 marked the early stages of a new job for me and, for once, my husband and I were able to spend a little time together prior to our respective departures for work. At the time, he was with the Canadian military and I was teaching English and French to military personnel and their spouses. I was also really into watching Live With Regis and Kelly, largely because who doesn't need a good laugh in the morning?
