humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
The Moors
Charlotte’s Public House was renowned for being the only place in the Isles where a ceasefire was universally acknowledged. Aged and weather-worn maps were nailed to the wood-slat walls. A silky golden light soaked the room, which became warmer the longer your visit. A baritone hum lingered in the air as sailors exchanged war stories of varying credibility. The tavern sat in the centre of the Island, down the street from the busy Merchant Quarter where goods were bought, sold, and stolen. Wagons rolled down the road, bottles clinking as the tires struck the potholes along the way. Although it was another typically sunny day outside, the tavern was dimly-lit and the windows were covered by thick drapes, letting hardly any light in.

journal entry #2
A whole decade is about to come to an end; some people cope with it by going out and getting hammered, other reminisce by themselves on the good but also bad, and others have major anxiety. The anxiety stems from thinking about how a whole decade has passed and you might not have done something “meaningful.”

Call Home
A perfect space in a famous hotel. One should be considered lucky to be invited. Following the cobblestone step, the visitors should find themselves in a hidden playground, a place that has an irrelevant purpose in this glorious gathering. It was as if the visitors knew that somehow the playground would downgrade their value. It was almost "the code" of conduct established by no one yet followed by everyone.

My Life After Robert
The letter lay on the kitchen table. I winced feeling the ache in my wrist under the fresh plaster cast as I got up and flicked the switch on the kettle. I needed time to process this; the words were almost screaming up at me off the page. We had only known each other a few months. We had visited museums together and I loved spending time with him but this? This is too much.

Lon Kei's Fortune
Waking up that morning was a bit of a pain. More than usual for Lon Kei. They sat up in bed listening to the racket that was their home. They lived with their parents and siblings in a small two bedroom house with a garage. Looking at the clock they gasped upon seeing the time. It was nearly time for morning class. Hurrying through their morning routine, face cleaned, shower, hair combed and teeth brushed, they struggled to leave the house with their younger siblings pulling at their shirt and begging for their attention. Giving them a couple headpats round and kissing their parents, they grabbed their bag and slipped out of the house just in time to see their best friend since childhood, Mira, walking halfway down the street on her way to the meeting spot. Seems like she was running late as well. Running to catch up with her, they didn’t notice someone rounding the next corner ahead of them and slammed into something solid.
