humanity
For better or for worse, relationships reveal the core of the human condition.
Merlot Aroma
The deep plum Merlot swirled around the glass releasing its olfactory aura. It wafted hints of plum and maybe chocolate. Its sensory invasion transported me back so many years to that night – the first date. My mind travelled back and then further back.

First Date
First Date The Queen's dinner was designed like the fanciest ballroom - crystal chandeliers, golden walls decorated with diamonds, a golden ceiling and golden floors. On top of that, it had the most delicious foods, with proper speaking, sophisticated, butlers. Only the wealthiest could afford it. But, while he saw the beautiful restaurant out of the corner of his eyes, Wilson Madison couldn't take his eyes off of Fatimah Mubarak. A restaurant such as that was the only type of place he would ever think of taking such a lovely woman. The feelings she put in his soul were, unmistakeably, the attributes of love.

At what point does meditating turn into "listening to music" or "napping"?
We're all supposed to meditate these days. The nebulous "they," an amalgamation of our doctors, therapists, HR and management consultants, yoga teachers, business leaders, and other trusted and idolized gurus suspected to be holders of some truth that we could all access if we just behaved a bit more like them, tell us: You must meditate. Meditation is the key to physical and mental health. Meditation is the common factor among successful people. Meditation is both the question and the answer.

Shadow Work
This is not a fairy tale. On the contrary, it is a very ordinary story of a young girl who is probably your friend, your neighbor, a passerby on the street. Your cousin, your niece, the one you don't like because she is so closed to repeated wickedness that she seems superior. You knew her for a while, on a Tinder date, in an anonymous meeting, at the bar... You took the time to talk to her, you probably judged her, like most people who judge everyone they meet.

Insomnolence
I’ve always had a long standing belief that everyone is brought into this world as a hopeful child, a mind brimming with wonder, and full of curiosity. Everyone dreams of doing incredible things or at least living a life that's worthwhile, making their time spent on Earth meaningful. Unfortunately not all are lucky and sometimes something comes along once in a great while that rattles those ambitions, and decimates them; inadvertently affecting a decent portion of people, without any fault of their own.

Angel
I do not know where to start. I literally have put up a wall. I get 99% done of which ever task I have tried to do done than the down-talking or self-sabotage starts. That voice in the back of my head starts repeating beliefs I have held on to since a child. Things I had never fully understood. Things like: You will never succeed. Should I write about this? Does this even make sense? Do people want to hear about this? It’s important to me that no one suffers any longer. Why do you want to help these people? It is important to me that no one is in pain, that no one brings their pain with them for over 30 years, as so many have. You're fighting for a cause that will be ongoing. There will always be abuse, so what is the point? This is my life purpose. I will show everyone whom wants to listen that we can be liberated of our old ways of thinking. One day sexual, mental, verbal, physical abuse will be abolished. All the sufferers will learn how to allow feelings and emotions to pass through us and not take hold and control us.

Ten Years
Why did I agree to this again? I arrive fifteen minutes early, choosing a seat with my back to the restaurant’s main entrance. Your voice sounds in my mind, ‘if you’re not fifteen minutes early, you’re late!’ Just one of the many army sayings that you used to subject me to daily. Here I am, though, habitually early for a date that I don’t want to be on.

Assumptions: Killing Connection for Survival?
Let’s face it: We make assumptions about almost everything, including ourselves. How many times have we said, “I got this!” and the result didn’t match our assumption? We tell people what we think is happening in the world, based on what we have seen or heard on the news or social media. We give unsolicited advice because we think we know the solution to someone’s problems, based on their version of their situation they shared with us. We have car accidents when we turn in front of another car because the driver had their turn signal on, and we assumed they were turning instead of going straight. It happens constantly and repeatedly throughout our lives. Where do assumptions come from?
