Ethics are moral codes you stand by because you’ve come to a level of understanding the self in relation to others. Ethics are things we share with people sometimes through our actions and other times through our words of affirmation. One could describe their belief system, or root chakra, as their code of ethics. You’d know what one values by what they participate in and what they’re hesitate to speak up about. I find ethics so interesting because it allows one to healthy pick the brain of another creating this butterfly effect of a renewed way to think.

The Naked Man
As I rode on the bus up Woodward Avenue one sunny Sunday morning away from the center of town, I saw a man naked standing in front of a very old hotel. He looked alarmed and since it was very cold outside, I guess he was not comfortable. I wondered what happened? Did he get caught in a woman’s bed by her husband or boyfriend? Was he robbed? Later after I returned to my hosts home, I asked about the area I saw him in and was told the hotel he was standing in front of was an historical landmark. In its time back in the late 30s it was a grand place to live. Many of the popular jazz musicians and other performers stayed in this hotel. The Fox Theater was only a few minutes away by bus or car. However, over time the neighborhood had changed a lot for the worse. The place now was what some called a flop house.

I always knew I was a bit weird. Weird isn't something someone volunteers as a descriptor for themselves, they're told they're weird and after a time, you begin to agree with it. But I was weird. I was a very quiet kid, never very much to say, If I did speak it was usually about something I had read or seen on National Geographic. Yeah, I was one of those kids.
