History Repeats Itself in San Francisco: Asian Americans Are Targeted Once More For Abuse
Pressure mounted for steps to be taken to isolate the Chinese of the city from those of Western European descent. Threats against Asian Americans multiplied as suspicion turned to blame and blame turned to hate.

The Power of a Smile
The world is tough. It was tough pre-pandemic and it is even tougher today, with the pandemic continuing to raise and the war in Ukraine. It is a blank slate of possibility that is surrounded by judgement, ridicule and misunderstanding. It is a challenge at the best of times and a torturous state at the worst of times. It is the only home that we will ever know and despite that, we can be seen to mistreat our surroundings.

To Sleep Or Not To Sleep?
Have you noticed how hard it is to get some decent shut eye lately? Insomnia seems to have taken over everyone's nights. Or is it just me? I can't get more than an hour before waking up, lying in bed, staring up at the ceiling, pacing the floor, wearing out the treads in the carpet, going back to bed, start the cycle over again. This has been going on for more than 3 years. It's no wonder that I have dark circles under my eyes.

Introspecting My Soul
I was born to a family that spoke Italian fluently. Half of them were born in Italy. Their elder siblings were born in Croatia. Some of them remembered the slavic language, but all of them spoke Italian. Italians in the 70s in the New England region of the United States were stereo-typically racist. They resented the fact that in the Italian history, they lost their blonde and blue eyes because the Moors invaded and "raped" their women and turned the "look" of the Italian people from Swedish-like to Latino-style. It was a memory in the Italian history books that created a sub-conscious "racism" towards black people and created some Italian stereo-types which were exaggerated when I was a child. However, we still had the peace-loving hippies putting out stuff like Sesame Street and School House Rock. Those humanists who taught diversity and the benefits of embracing all cultures and peoples. Even the "gangstas" had their favorite "black" sheep for example Sammie Davis Jr. in one of the original old school mob gangs.

Important Questions to Ask An Ungrounded Person
We live in a busy world. There are so many shiny things, noisy things, and beautiful things that can take us out of the present moment. They can be super inspiring but they can also be distracting and even overwhelming.

Compassion - The Missing Element (Part 2)
In my previous post, I shared - no, vented out - why I think the world lacks human compassion, and why it needs a lot more of it. The trouble is, simply identifying problems and venting out about them doesn't help, at ALL!

STRANGE FRUIT
SOMEONE IN NEW YORK GOT HER PREGNANT... whoever she was, years before I ever went through any part of the state. I was 39 when my bank... Bank of Homewood, in our hometown area of Illinois drafted a check from my rent money to pay her child support to a "Ms. Anderson." It was like... "I'm sorry, Ms, but you owe child support to a Miss..." I didn't know they were doing anything to my account until I looked at my bank statement for that month. The trouble is I never made love to the woman (I am not into women) ... I never heard of to make a baby I never known about either. To top all that... I am yet a woman. I could not have made her a baby. Identity theft and mistaken identity is a blossoming crisis in America. While I have never been to New York and never met the woman I was claimed to have impregnated, $400 was removed from my disability check to pay for the baby girl she birthed by me four years prior. The entity in Upstate New York claimed that someone by my name... misspelled on the order... was being legitimately docked of the amount shown on the document. My bank complied by paying the check with no question of logic. All in all... I was a woman who never met the woman or her child and most likely never met or known the man she'd messed around with. She evidently did not know who got her pregnant either. According to the entity sending the note, it involved a Ms. Crass in Buffalo, New York.
