friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
A Minority's Memoirs
My friend and I developed a close relationship from kindergarten until we graduated high school. We pretty much stuck together through thick and thin. However, we did not necessarily have the greatest start. In fact, we were enemies before we were friends. Since we were never able to reach a point where we could talk about this issue, it later created a disconnect for us, and left me with unanswered questions even now at age 23.

How To Make Friends in Your 30s
Growing up, especially for girls, friends are imperative. They were the lifeline to surviving our teenage years. Of course, these friendships weren't always easy. They were filled with plenty of drama, break ups, and the occasional little push and shove. OK, maybe the verbal and sometimes physical debacles were just my friends and me, but for every shove and insult came hugs, tears, and promises of friendship forever. What can I say, that's how central New Jersey girls roll. Ha!

When People Accuse You of Something that You Didn't Do
You think you're the worst person in the world for being paranoid, but actually, it's not you that's being paranoid. It's the other person that's being paranoid and you just sit there like "Erm hang on for one minute I did send you a message but you haven't responded; secondly if you sent me messages I would have responded to them by now, so you don't need to be jumping down my throat if I didn't get any messages until now."

Curse of the Secret Santa
The lights. The blinking lights flashing green and red, alternating in duration, yet somehow in sync, clearly the difference maker. The lights illuminate the season. The smell of pine fills the air as I pass the rows of wreath and tree vendors. With several packages in hand, I struggle through the streets of New York feeling the brisk cool air, evidenced through my foggy breath. Yup, tis the season. It’s Christmas time. Whenever I casually walk the city streets, I always experience incidental bumping by New Yorkers seemingly in a hurry - typical. Now, there are shoppers with bags upon bags of gifts no one will ever use. I too am on that same quest except for me it’s a tradition that invokes a curse. This curse is not one conjured by a witch or warlock but one that was self-imposed, unwittingly through my own selfish, childish actions. Only after the third or fourth year as an adult did I realize I was under said curse. Some may call it retribution. Some may call it a well-deserved boomerang effect. I call it quite simply: The Curse of the Secret Santa.

The True Reality of Closure
Closure is defined as bringing things to an end or conclusion. That at times is easier said than done especially in this day and age. Most people crave closure in cases of relationships ending or failing, losing friends, or even the death of loved ones. Understandably obtaining closure is a lot easier acquired in the situation of a loved one passing simply for the fact that everyone wants and desires to make peace with those they have mistreated in their final moments. However, that doesn't always make it easy or simple to handle.

Dim Royal
We met when we were kids, 6 and 9 year-olds running around the courtyard outside the school. The intensity in his eyes reminded me of my grandfather before he died. He looked past the girls playing hopscotch and ignored the boys foot-racing. It was his first week at Laurent Lowell Academy, a posh estate-turned-school for the families that could afford such luxury, and he hadn’t said a word to anyone. In fact, I only knew his name was Huyat because of his announced arrival days before. He was an orphan, and we were to treat him like we treated every other kid. To the others that meant he was poor and invisible. He had been left alone sitting Indian-style in the far left of the courtyard, under the shade of dark green leaves.

One Question That Will Help You Build a Relationship
One thing I think we can all agree on is that relationships are hard. Whether you are building a friendship from the ground up, trying to get to know a partner on a deeper level, or reconnecting with someone after an extended separation, it is difficult to overcome the awkwardness.

Heartbreak and Friends
As I sit in the bushes in that Wal-Mart parking lot I was faced with a decision that would change my life completely. All I could feel was tears running down my face and my chest closing off till I almost passed out. All that was running through my head was what to choose. Do I choose him: my honeybear, my first love or do I choose my family? The people who never really seemed to care about me or the person who seemed to care about me more than anything?
