friendship
C.S Lewis got it right: friendship is born when one person says to another: "What! You too? I thought I was the only one!"
The Knitting Crew
It was a stormy night. The wind was blowing, the lightning was flashing, and the thunder was booming. It was a lady’s night out but with the rain they were not too sure about going out to party, so they decided to stay in. Melissa was having a sleepover with the ladies, Liz, Dorothy, and Alison. They had just finished watching a lovely movie and having a delicious pasta takeout dinner. They were thinking of going out as it was supposed to be a lady’s night out, but the storm clouds rolled in and the temperature had dropped.

Why you're drifting away from your friends, and that's okay
When we're going up, our friends are a huge part of our lives. When you look back you remember all the sleep overs, parties, the notes you passed in class. How you talked to each other about everything, nothing could pull you apart. But as life continued to go on, you realized you haven't talked to them in a while. It's been a good minute since you hung out, and that's okay.

The Day I lost My Bes Friend
We met way before my addiction took place and took over. You became my ride and die from the very first moment we met. Best friends or love of my life would be some the words I would use to describe you but they don’t even do it justice. You were one of a kind and irreplaceable force in my life, until that all changed, in one day.

People in my life
I first met Kevin Trost in 1990 at the old arcade/pool hall on Trenton ave off of Dauphin street in the Kensington section of Philadelphia, PA. We were both all of 14 years old and we started out not really too fond of one another. When I entered that arcade, with my best friend at the time, John Donnelly, (you can read his story another time. John was my childhood best friend and we grew apart following that trip to the arcade), I joined a gang of sorts. We had a name, WTO, and it had a few meanings, but my favorite always will be “We’re The Ones”. There were anywhere between 25 and 100 members at varying times. We weren’t organized or anything like that, calling yourself and your friends a gang is something poor people did. It gave a sense of family outside of your blood family. I can remember a time when we used to skip school at my house and I wouldn’t let him in because I didn’t like him at the time. I considered him a rival. He kissed almost all the girls that I liked and I didn’t think he was a better looking person than I was. Add puberty and rejection to low self esteem and I never had a chance, so it was a childish jealousy. I learned that not only was my initial reaction to him so far off and that Trost, as we all called him, was an awesome person. He had his peculiarities, like we all do, but he was loads of fun.

The Epitome of Best Friends
It all started the day I came into the world. I can’t say I remember our first moment, but I remember everything else. I remember everything from running bases for him, when he and his friends would play baseball, to him and Greg cutting up my dead goldfish pretending it was sushi. I remember him smashing my first little guitar and him and me making cookies, meaning I made the cookies and he stood in the kitchen and watched.

Elevator
Why did this have to happen today of all days? I already have an unreasonable fear of elevators, but today, I just so happened to climb on with my annoying coworker. I looked out of the window in the back of the elevator and tried to ignore my coworker who was currently glaring at me as though the entire situation were my fault. I wanted to curl up into a ball and hide because I hated the elevator, but I did not want to show that weakness in front of him. He already thought very little of me. Sighing, I watched as the cars passed by on the road outside.

Surfing in the Fog
It was a swell day on an overcast dawn patrol morning in North County San Diego. My surf sisters Molly, Terri, and Kim M, checked out Turtles. Walls of water closing out, and we had longboards. Except Kim had a shorter board, but even the look on her face, she wasn’t sure about paddling out.
