The Politics of Ghosting
The Politics of Ghosting On care, dignity, and modern dating We can, for any number of reasons, feel justified in withholding care from others, choosing instead to prioritize only ourselves. For much of my life, I've leaned in the opposite direction — neglecting my own needs while centering the needs of others. In an effort to recalibrate, to land in that radical middle space, I've sometimes swung too far the other way, treating self-care as if it were in conflict with care for others. These days, I'm working to right-size care in my life — making space for both self-respect and mutual responsibility.

Authentic Connection: Effort or Being?
I've come to a profound realization: none of the people who are truly good to me became my friends because I tried to make them so. Instead, we were drawn to each other naturally, connecting with ease as soon as we met. I now understand that no relationship in this world can be forced. But deep down, I knew it wasn’t just any date. It was my first date.

A LOVE THAT STAYED
The ancient grandfather clock in the study, a silent sentinel of time, ticked away the moments as Elias, his hands gnarled with age but surprisingly steady, carefully placed a faded photograph back into its worn leather album. The image showed a young man and woman, their faces alight with an unburdened joy, standing by a blooming cherry tree. It was a spring day, much like the one outside his window, where the first tentative blossoms were unfurling their delicate petals. Elias smiled, a crinkle of warmth around his eyes. He was 92 now, and the woman in the photograph, his beloved Clara, had been gone for fifteen years. Yet, looking at the picture, it felt like yesterday.

The Echo of Empty Rooms
I was twelve when I first realized that silence could be heavy. Not just absence-of-sound heavy, but thick—like molasses in the air. The kind of quiet that clings to your skin, seeps into your bones, and hums in the corners of rooms long after voices are gone.
