Southern love

Magic moments

By Sherry jacksonPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

When I saw him got the first time there was something there- a feeling of familiarity. He looked like someone I had known before.

He was singing at my aunt’s annual Easter family gathering, where Echoes of laughter filled the air that was mixed with scents of delicious dishes. There was also the sound of children running and babies crying.

It was always loud and alive and I treasured those times together.

This year my aunt Sally had gotten a singer and a live band to perform. There was also catering from our little town’s best local restaurant.

All this was because Uncle Bob was retiring and they were going to sell the big White House and move to Arizona.

The singer began to sing. For some strange reason his presence demanded my attention.

He stood confidently in a smart white tux Jackie performing a romantic song which was my favorite.

There was an instant spiritual connection between us and even though I was doing my usual functions smiling and talking to others I felt my life committing to him submitting and declaring my love for him.

After his song he talked to the audience but he mentioned things that crossed my mind leaving me wondering how he could know what I was thinking.

By the end of his next performance I felt such a strong spiritual bond between us that it felt like I literally imaged us as twins merged together with a bond so strong nothing could ever come between us.

I asked my cousin who knows everything about everyone in our small North Caroline town who was he as we sat at the Easter table eating.

He she informed as I couldn’t keep my eyes off of him and it seemed he felt the same way as I saw him watching me all though the afternoon, that he had just moved here from the Charolette and was the newphew of the Longens-the pioneers of the area. She whispers to me so no one else could hear. They said he was quite a lady’s man but now he was looking to settle down and was looking for a good wife. She gave me a long look!

I watched him leave as our eyes met when he stopped at the door turning to give me a long stare which left me weak and to my surprise as soon as he was gone a longing to see him again.

The next day his face kept flashing before me and when I slept that night I dreamed he were tenderly kissing me.

My thoughts of wanting to see him again played in my head hearing him singing and how I not ever wanted to be away from him.

What madness had overcome me? I asked myself. Suddenly everything took a back burner to my thoughts of him.

I forced myself to face reality, and had to take care of my daily responsibilities.

I managed to exist as though nothing had happen which was true on a realistic level.

Then my assistant and I went to a spring fashion show at our town’s most luxurious hotel.

I owned a boutique and was looking to add some new exciting items to my shop.

I was enjoying my self for the first since I met him and I was a little tipsy from the champagne when I heard his singing.

I turned to see him on the stage performing. I stood looking at him in pleasant astonishment.

My heart skipped several beats as his eyes met mine.

I felt like I was floating in the air.

It was like the universe had hear my cry. Feelings of gratitude overtook me as warm tears spilled down my cheeks.

Afterwards he stepped off the stage eyes locked with mine walked over to me offered his hand as I gracefully put mine in his and we walked out to the balcony. He pulled me close to him looked deep in my eyes, kissed my tears away and his mouth found mine with an passionate long kiss.

I knew there was a special relationship out there somewhere for me and now I know that was the reason the other matches had not worked. I had found my other half.

He laughing pushed me in the flowered decked wedding swing hanging from our tall oak tree in our front yard at our wedding reception.

Then he pulled it to a sudden stop and bent down to kiss me passionately.

The sun slipped slowly into the grassy green hill tops.as our loud and warm family and friends gathered on the lawn at my aunt Sally and uncle Bob big White House that now was our home.
