Soul esteem
The unspoken divide between our self-image and inner desires.
Low self-esteem is the virus so prevalent it has become normalized.
Why do we struggle to find ourselves, to find our inner voice, and stop caring about what others may say?
How can we live free and still censoring our words and actions for fear of what someone else may think?
Even the truly talented individuals, who seem to have giving no fucks down to an art ,will admit it wasn't always that easy for them.
We hide behind makeup and painful high heels. We get the hair ripped off our brows from its roots. We endure cosmetic surgery and subject ourselves to physical pain so that we can meet a standard of beauty that was set long before our souls greeted this earth.
The body is the vessel that carries your soul. The tongue is the tool the soul uses to express its inner desires.
We shame our bodies and shush our tongues.
Yet, we are judged by the look of our bodies and what we have said or didn't say, and rightly so as these are connected with our souls.
But is the judgment fair if we have not allowed ourselves full expression?
Can we look at a body that is out of shape from being forced to work in a cubicle out of society's idea of being responsible and call the person a lazy soul?
Can we listen to a tongue repeating everything it has been trained to say by social media, and call the person a shallow soul?
Watch how quickly a room can turn on a person with an unpopular opinion.
Would it be so tough if beauty could mean inner beauty and opinions could lead to intelligent discussions and not wars?
When we begin to accept our flaws and shine in our own strengths we have the power to accept and love others the way they are.
It's a cycle in which self- love radites love towards others because, when we cast judgment on others it is a reflection of our own insecurities.
Imagine a world in which every girl feels beautiful, regardless of status, every idea is considared, new ideas are encouged, and life is celebrated not endured.
Some may call me a dreamer, but this is the world I wish to leave for my children.
If we do not dream or dare to change the self-esteem crashing virus will continue to consume our youth.
-Till next time Cenda
