"We cannot live only for ourselves. A thousand fibers connect us with our fellow men; and among those fibers, as sympathetic threads, our actions run as causes, and they come back to us as effects."

-Herman Melville

Sundays are my reset days. I usually always have the day off from work and I like getting myself prepared for the week ahead- especially with three kids. It's the day where I focus on the laundry, my books, and a lot of coffee.

I got this idea in my head to start a series on Vocal called: Motivational Mondays. I got this idea because school is starting soon and I am according to my partner, the "family manager".

I manage it all, the bills, the groceries, the lunches, our schedules. I love it don't get me wrong but everyone could use a little motivation sometimes. A boost if you will. I find I especially hate Mondays because of how much I love my slow Sundays.

Hence, this new series I would like to start on Mondays here on Vocal.

This week's theme or challenge, per say, is starting fresh. With the new school year coming up, I thought it was truly fitting for myself on a personal level to “start fresh”. So what does that look like for me?

It means creating space. Space for my kids to grow into new routines. Space for our family to breathe and reset. And space for myself to reflect and move forward from a year that truly changed my life.

This week, my focus is honest and truly getting the kids off to a great start to their school year. I need to motivate me, to motivate them. We had such a long summer of staying up late, sleeping in, and general fun in the sun. I hate for it to end but I am excited for them to get back to the grind.

My second goal for this week, includes beginning to start decluttering before the snow hits. I’ve been holding onto things like clothes, toys, and random things like old coffee pots. Things that no longer serve our family a purpose. Donating and letting go feels like an act of renewal. I am making room not just in our home, but in my mind. Especially since my mind is already onto Christmas.

So here’s to Motivational Mondays.... they are my small reminder to you and for myself to pause, reset, and embrace the chance to start fresh. It doesn't have to be a new year for you to wake up and decide that everyday is a fresh start.

I have included a motivational song in this post to get you through the upcoming week with nothing but confidence!

I truly loved watching this movie with my kids this summer. If you haven't heard of the KPop Demon Hunter's movie on Netflix, it is so good! Highly recommend the watch. It reminds me of my generation being obsessed with High School Musical, Camp Rock and Hannah Montana.

This right here is the best song in the entire movie. I think that this is the perfect song to start of this new week!

I'm done hidin', now I'm shinin'

Like I'm born to be

ALSO! I had to include this little blurb about something spiritual that I do in my home. Because it is the first of the month today, don't forget to blow your cinnamon outside your front door. It is supposedly meant to bring good luck, prosperity, and abundance into your home, especially when you practice the ritual on the first of the month. What a great way to start off this series of motivational posts by adding a little spirituality into the mix.

Thank you for reading this first of many posts that were inspired by the Monday Blues.

Tune in next week for another part to the series of Motivational Mondays.
