Humans Want Peace

Leaders Should Promote Peace

The reasons why should be obvious to everyone. With the WORLD currently on the highest level of “Nuclear Alert” than anytime in the history of our planet and the real possibility of a global nuclear war most of us common people are sick of “endless wars.”

The Doomsday Clock is 90 seconds to midnight.

Just the simple reality and fact that back in the first few months of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine a TREATY was agreed on by Russia & Ukraine then the last minute the USA & ENGLAND encouraged Ukraine to back out is enough to make anyone sick to their stomach. Now over 500,000 dead and Ukraine is running out of soldiers! Not a good situation. The stench of war and humans killing humans needs to end.

I practice Nichiren Shoshu True Buddhism as a lay person and a few years back I had an audience with a Priest about the topic of Global Peace. The Priesthood has performed a ceremony continuously each night between 2:00 am and 4:00 am for 800 years chanting for Global Peace.

It is called Ushitora Gongyo.

We discussed how promoting peace and working towards that goal actually creates good karma.

He explained the story of King Ashoka in ancient India and how after viewing the horror of war he converted to Buddhism and created an environment of peace that lasted far beyond his life. He explained that it is up to each individual, not just leaders, to have a mindset for peace.

It is really mind boggling to many people how we can claim to be “the most intelligent species” yet we still fight wars! Death and destruction seems more in a realm of animality than in a realm of humanity. So many billionaires, so much technology yet we still have wars snd build weapons that can destroy our planet!

So let’s look at the reasons why promoting peace is good for humanity.

When nations are at peace, they mostly focus on improving the welfare of their citizens, promoting economic growth, and fostering cultural exchange and cooperation. We have seen this throughout human history.

Global peace is critical for maintaining international stability, security, and cooperation. In a world where nations are interdependent and interconnected, conflicts in one region can have far-reaching consequences for others. For example, conflicts in the Middle East have led to the displacement of millions of people and created security challenges for neighboring countries and beyond. We see that happening now and we are watching Palestine being leveled in response to a terrorist attack. Human history and evolution shows us that “Death Cults” no matter the religion or philosophy they come out of, always go extinct. That will be the case of Hamas which is a cult and a tiny fraction of the Islamic religion.

Leaders who promote global peace also contribute to the development of a more just and equitable world. They work towards reducing poverty, inequality, and discrimination, and promoting human rights and democratic values. By doing so, they create a more stable and prosperous global community that benefits everyone.

In summary, promoting global peace is not only a moral imperative but also a practical necessity for leaders who seek to create a better world for their citizens and future generations.

Here are some famous quotes on promoting world peace:

1. "Peace cannot be kept by force; it can only be achieved by understanding." - Albert Einstein

2. "If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy. Then he becomes your partner." - Nelson Mandela

3. "Peace is not the absence of conflict, but the ability to handle conflict by peaceful means." - Ronald Reagan

4. "The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall." - Nelson Mandela

5. "Peace is a journey of a thousand miles and it must be taken one step at a time." - Lyndon B. Johnson

6. "An eye for an eye will only make the whole world blind." - Mahatma Gandhi

7. "Peace is not a relationship of nations. It is a condition of mind brought about by a serenity of soul. Peace is not merely the absence of war. It is also a state of mind. Lasting peace can come only to peaceful people." - Jawaharlal Nehru

8. "The only way to change the world is to make a little noise." - Malala Yousafzai

9. "Peace is a daily, a weekly, a monthly process, gradually changing opinions, slowly eroding old barriers, quietly building new structures." - John F. Kennedy

10. "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." - Mother Teresa

Conclusion

Obama once made the astute observation that we are currently in a time period in human history where there are less wars and regional conflicts than anytime in human history. Obviously to many people today that seems to not be the case eventhough it is a fact! Maybe because of constant news, propaganda, and the simple fact that there are wars it appears conflicts are worse than ever.

We definitely need leaders, from all foelds of society and individuals to promote peace. You cannot believe there will always be wars and also believe someday we can create global peace. It takes effort.
