Patient Love

For years I was a single man with nothing but hope in my heart. Most people would assume guys don’t go through feelings like this. It happens more often than not, we are just not accustomed to sharing our experiences about it. But here goes nothing. I never looked twice at another woman, because for some odd reason I was fixated on someone who had no interest in me. We dated for a couple years, had a daughter together even. I really thought she was the one. After we split up, I always felt like we would end up getting back together. Luckily she wasn’t the type to use our child or my feelings against me.

However, after years of basically being 2nd or 3rd best, I finally looked in the mirror and told myself. You deserve someone who’s gonna notice you. Not just text you when they are bored. Not just come around when things aren’t going their way. So I decided to actually start putting my self out there. I joined dating websites, because I am definitely not the type to go to bars or clubs. Unfortunately those led to nothing but spam. I still get my junk email folder stuffed with nonsense. So I started holding my head up whenever I was at work or when I would have to go to Walmart or something. After all this is 2019 (at that time) and that’s another popular way people would meet.

Shortly after that I met a woman at work. And boy let me tell you, I could definitely tell she was the one. Everybody at work noticed a huge difference in my appearance. For once I was smiling like never before. It has been 11 months now and I couldn’t be happier. She doesn’t know it yet but I bought a ring and I’m waiting for that perfect opportunity to pop the question. There is no doubt in my heart that she will say yes. Before I go on for hours, all I’m trying to say is, every single person on this earth deserves true love. We all have to go through terrible situations unfortunately. It is a learning experience that you can take one of two ways. You can tell yourself that it is your fault and it will continue to happen or you can look yourself in the mirror and tell yourself you deserve better than this. Never settle for something less than what you deserve and I’ll gladly be the one to tell you. You deserve the best. It always helps to hear from somewhere else too. Stay patient.
