Overthinking: You Biggest Rival

How not to think. Have you ever been so tired of thoughts that you just wanted to switch off your brain? Of course, there comes a point in life where you just want to exist. Not to think. I'm someone who's always thinking. Whose mind is always on the pedestal. I'm always thinking about something. My brain only switches off when I'm asleep. That's practically being unconscious, right? I want to turn off my brain while I'm awake and conscious.

Constantly, my brain is on stretch. I might be thinking about an embarrassing moment I had in a conversation that took place months ago. Or I might be overanalyzing something someone had said to me. Or I could be thinking about an event I am to participate in in the future. It just never stops. Coming with experience, overthinking kills joy. When I am on an occasion about which I've been thinking, I am anxious about weird mundane things. Due to this anxiety, I never fully enjoy it. Never fully live.

Have you ever felt like you don't have any memories about a particular day?

Well, after some research I have found something baffling.

When I initially read it I was taken aback. Not a back precisely but a leap. The backward free fall. It sucked because it made sense. But we have to accept the harsh reality to grow, right? We have to swallow the bitter truth to move forward.

So, here it is:

Psychology says that if you don't remember much from an event you attended is because you were too anxious about it. Real bummer. It exactly says you were too busy overanalyzing yourself that you didn't analyze your surroundings. Didn't pay attention to the people you were talking to and didn't have the kind of conversation you are capable of having. Overthinking dulls your personality. It swooshes a veil over your shine. You are so occupied in the bubble you made yourself that you're unable to see what is happening around you.

Overthinking about anything wrecks it. I have felt it. I was such a bright student in middle school. The protagonist. Teachers favourite. Always at the forefront of every activity. The leader of my class. In high school, well, I started to overthink and it was all busted. From the main character of the class to the student who is always quiet. I grew up.

This was the worst sort of change. I think I initially began overthinking in 2020. The pandemic. When I had too much time on my hands. Too much free time. This can be far-fetched but I think anxiety emerged on the global level after the pandemic.

Too much time leads to too much thinking which leads to uncertainty about yourself. About the things you can achieve.

Uncertainty leads to anxiety. It's THE LOOP FRPM HELL as Mark Manson might label it.

So, I had to make a move to end this. This couldn't go on. Of course, I am not professional to tell you helpful things that can stop you from overthinking so I'm going to share what helped me and what worked for me.

I started to occupy my brain with silly stories. The people on the internet might label it as a delusion or a Fake scenario. They are so fun and engaging and they also help me keep my mind from overthinking. IT'S A WIN WIN. I have progressively been better at avoiding overthinking. This is what we call daydreaming as well. Physically I can be on a bus gazing out of the window but mentally I could be anywhere. From Limbo to heaven. It's unlimited. Germany, France, London, Greece anywhere. I have no desire for them to come true. I just want them to keep me occupied so I don't stray to harmful places.
