Mysterious dark blue
On the coast of Tunisia, Anna and her husband, Julien, and the Pauls, are basking in the warm sunshine.
On the coast of Tunisia, Anna and her husband, Julien, and the Pauls, are basking in the warm sunshine.
"------ Then he got into my arms and cried, 'I'm sorry Anna,' and he said, you know what, that scared the hell out of me! I thought he had a terminal illness." Anna lifted her back, which had been pained by the recliner, and propped herself up on her elbows so she could watch the expressions on the Pauls' faces.
"Guess what he said to me at the end?" The woman asked expectantly in return.
Anyone who knows how to socialize knows that at this point you don't need to say much, just a look of anticipation or curiosity is enough to get the conversation going. This is not a difficult task for the Pauls, who have been in the business for many years -
They picked up cocktails from the plastic round table, took a sip, and smiled as they waited for Anna to reveal the answer.
"Oooooh, I don't know what's wrong with me," Anna said, lowering her voice and mimicking Yu Lian.
The woman was part of the drama club in college, and although she played minor supporting roles until she graduated, no one could deny her acting talent.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul were amused by her performance. They looked at each other as if asking permission and then shuddered merrily, like two unstable people, bumping into each other now and then. On the third attempt to hit each other, the cocktail in Anan's hand flew out of the glass unexpectedly and landed on Anna's red one-piece swimsuit. The liquid mixed with alcohol and water wet the latter's white, plump shoulders and slid down her arms onto the sand. However, they continued to laugh, as if no one noticed this little accident - the person concerned Anna is immersed in the pleasure of the success of the performance, and naturally does not care.
At the moment, only Yu Lian looked sullen.
"Well, Anna," he turned back to his wife and tried to stop her from continuing to betray herself, "let's stop talking about this subject."
Anna was too involved, however, and did not pay attention to the pair of eyes that were looking at her, melancholy. It was only when Paul's wife winked at her that she noticed her teary-eyed husband on the sidelines.
"Well, dear, let's have some fun for you, which is the main purpose of our trip," Anna said softly as she wrapped her arms around Yu Lien's neck.
Anan then proposed to go to a nearby casino for a break after lunch, and the women, who loved excitement and adventure, immediately agreed.
When he returned to the hotel, Yu Lian looked as if he had just swam around the sea and sank into the sofa as soon as he entered the room.
Compared to the tired man, Anna looked in great spirits - the same state her wife had been in since the first day of their vacation in Tunisia.
"Do you think I should wear this one or this one to go?" Anna in front of the mirror held up two halter dresses and gestured back and forth in front of her body.
"You go ahead." Yu Lian said breathlessly.
"But it's all for you!"
"You know I hate crowded places ------," Yu Lian replied in a small voice.
Anna stopped moving her hands. The mirror showed her hair high on the back of her head and her bare back, and Yu Lian noticed that she still had the plaid mark from the recliner under her left shoulder blade.
Anna stared at her husband, who was now sinking into the back of the sofa and would have been angry with him, but she suddenly gave up -
"So be it." She said calmly.
Anna's head swayed slightly in the mirror. Beyond the desperate silence, Yu Lian seemed to hear a distant, soft whistling sound, and finally, together with Anna's figure in the mirror, it slipped into a gradually expanding, shallow halo of light ------
"He said to take a nap."
The sound of his wife speaking came from downstairs, followed by the sound of a car engine gradually moving away, and Yu Lian rolled his eyes for a moment as he continued the difficult task of digesting his lunch. His left foot twitched subconsciously as the sea breeze blew into the room with the blue window frames, and he changed his sitting position, well aware that the day would be wasted.
When Anna entered the room, Yu Lien was still sitting with his face out the window. The sun shone orange on his white undershirt and cast gray shadows on his face and the couch. If it weren't for his index finger flicking the couch every once in a while, she would have thought he had managed to get cursed and turned into a giant potato.
"It was so much fun there, you really should have come with us!"
"I'm glad you went."
"You're going to argue with me aren't you?"
"What's wrong?" Yu Lien narrowed his eyes a little and looked toward Anna. In the mirror, Anna was wearing a light blue short-sleeved shirt with a bow tied around her waist with a thin white string. Her arms and the skin exposed below her belly button showed red spots from the hot sun.
"What's wrong? You ask me what's wrong? I was going to ask you what's wrong! You're always like this! It's always like this!!!" Anna finally screamed.
Julian tried to comfort his wife but didn't know what to say - in the past, he always came up with something sweet to say.
Finally, he left Anna and fled to a nearby bar.
"Come on man, what the hell is wrong with you lately?" Paul asked, patting Julian's shoulder. When he left the room, he was stopped in the hallway by Paul, and the two of them went to the Banana Fish Bar to spend some time together.
"I don't know," Yulian said, taking a sip of bourbon and hesitating for a moment before painfully telling Paul that Anna was angry.
"Dude, you know what I'm asking," Paul said as he drained his glass and beckoned for another. With his second glass down, Paul's face was already slightly red as he circled Yu Lien's shoulders and continued, "It's just a few rejections from the publisher, what's the big deal? Listen to me, you have a rich and loving wife, you should be satisfied! Look at me again."
"Cheer up, look at your bitter face, good luck will go around you."
Paul hiccuped and the two smiled at each other, but neither understood the meaning behind the other's smile.
Nearly two in the morning, Yu Lian said goodbye to Paul, alone back to the hotel suite. Although he had drunk a lot of alcohol at the bar, he was very conscious.
He did not climb into bed, but sat quietly on the sofa and looked at Anna, who has curled up under the covers not far away. She was breathing calmly, and sometimes the sound of the waves would drown out her breathing.
I don't know how long it took, but Yu Lian went up and kissed his wife's forehead, then he grabbed his jacket and left the room.
The sound of waves lapping at the shore came from the silence of the sea, and he stood up his collar to protect himself from the cold, and when he stepped out of the last glow built up by the streetlights, he suddenly felt unprecedented energy. He gradually approached the paradise in front of him, the only paradise that belonged to him, while removing all the clothes from his body.
--Mysterious dark blue, emitting a silver-white light in the darkness of the night. He stood on the shore, looking at the boundless sea, and leaped into the water.
At this moment, Yu Lian finally got rid of the dust and strife. He increased his speed, getting closer and closer to the light in the sea as if in the next second, he was going to hold it in his hands ------
When he returned to the shore, Yu Lian was exhausted. He turned his body over, his face toward the moonlight and the starry sky, lying there motionless. The sound of the sea lapping at the shore came and went, and as he counted the waves, he recalled the scene in elementary school when he ran in the relay: he took the baton from his teammates and was sprinting toward the goal.
Now, everyone is clapping and cheering for him.
