Mourning for Beirut, Lebanon from Atlanta, Georgia.
Amidst the sadness and grief, we are with you in prayers for your strength.

Our friends and family of the world, speak of the shock, the smoke, waves of wind and glass that shattered their homes and uprooted their lives in an instant. The port where the explosion took place, sits on the northern end of the Mediterranean coast near Turkey, The Port of Beirut, in (Arabic) مرفأ بيروت , is one of the busiest shipping centers of the country.
President Aoun declared three days of mourning which started on Wednesday. Opening an emergency cabinet meeting, he said: "No words can describe the horror that has hit Beirut last night, turning it into a disaster-stricken city".
I’m not one who lives or resides in social media with the ebb and flow of the tide, however...
My genuine prayers go out for the 100+ killed and over 4000 injured in an explosion that leveled their immediate community- and beyond. To the people of Beirut and their families this morning I grieve with you when one hurts we all hurt, when all come together the one is strong.
The accounts from those like Shehadeh Khalaf, 67, to Hussein Al Haq, 22 talked of the tremendous power of both blasts, felt as far away as Cyprus.
Through my background in film and television. I have been blessed to speak in other countries and write films that reflect the world. From my small unknown pocket of the world here in Atlanta, Georgia this day. I pray for strength for you all during this time Beirut, Lebanon 🇱🇧
This morning I reach in so that we can all reach out. Neighboring countries have already expressed they will be offering aid to the region as the work to recover survivors continue.
I haven’t found a support link yet, so I know my own account here on vocal starts with zero, so to the aid, I will donate anything from here on my Vocal page directly.
Again, throughout the region, there have been encouraging stories of survivors. The resiliency of the people is one of the many moments that remind all us, especially me, that we are all connected. If there are any truths that transcend, race, religion, cultures, it is that our life can change at any moment, and in that moment I pray that we can find family forever in our reach. The world and its community.
Those looking to find out more can visit-
and tips expressed through my Vocal page will also follow through on that effort. More information can be found on AP News or NBC as it develops.
In my own words as a person who shares the scope and view of many who may feel isolated at this time, to hear of the explosion and only now because of social media 20 hours later getting visual accounts on YouTube and Twitter feeds; the sadness can creep in and we can forget how to reach for our brothers and sisters around the world. I had a litany off tasks on my to do lists and calls, regarding film projects and resources for an Atlanta Film community that has been at a stand still during the pandemic, but it hit me that I am alive and many across the world, immediately are not. I had a to personally take some time to not only say- my prayers and thoughts, hugs, and healing are with you- but to do and share that we can and have to actively support each other during these times of intense crisis.
I immediately shot and shared the only video on my channel and behind those few moments followed up with my written thoughts and message to the world. In solid hopes of connecting and remembering to be here for each other in the dark times as well as the light. Please follow along as I continue on my journal and journeys, in film, media, words, and stories.
