Mother's "birthday"

My family's Thanksgiving

By wsadPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

When I came home that day, my mother was standing at the intersection waiting for me. She had dressed up, not only with a new set of clothes but also with a gold necklace. The neighbors couldn't stop smiling when they saw her and asked my mother if it was her birthday, to which she replied with a smile, "What birthday is it, but I'm as happy as if my daughter had come home for her birthday."

In past years, when my mother celebrated her birthday, even relatives from out of town would come to my house. The whole family gathered to wish my mother a happy birthday, and send gifts, this day is the happiest day for my mother. I came home for a meal, how can it be compared to her birthday?

My mother told me that she always looked forward to her birthday the most. When I was young, I was short of clothes, but my grandfather would always buy my mother a new set of clothes with a little money from his teeth. Later, when her mother got married, even if she was poor, her father would buy her a gift and cook her a delicious meal. When my mother got older, her siblings got closer, and on her birthday, the whole family got together, ate and drank, talked and laughed, and she was very happy to feel the love of her relatives. And I am no exception, as long as my mother's birthday, will prepare a big surprise for her.

On that day, I brought back not many gifts, my mother distributed them to the neighbors and did not have much left for herself. I insisted on going to town to buy some more, but she refused with a smile, saying, "I can't eat that much alone, give a little to the neighbors, let them also follow happily, you people home is the best gift to me, than eating anything." I heard that, some sweat.

Mother cooked a table of good food, all my favorite food, I said it was like receiving a VIP, mother sighed after hearing, said, "is not a guest, you came back once in the New Year, count almost four months." Hearing my mother say this, my heart sank, I came home only a handful of times, but it is a guest.

That day, my mother was busy and in good spirits. At night, my mother and I slept together and slept soundly. The next morning I had to go back to work, my mother sent and sent. When I opened the car window, I turned around and saw her still standing there, the despondency on her face in sharp contrast to the joy I felt when I came home, and my heart was suddenly torn.

I finally realized that my departure was an important parting for my mother and that every time I came home was her birthday.

My family has Thanksgiving Day, and every year on this day, we think of our parents' good deeds and do everything we can for them.

The other day, my older brother suggested that our family set a holiday. We were a little confused: the holiday is a national law, how can you say set it? Big brother said seriously: "Who brought up our siblings with a few twisted tendons? Who squeezed money out of their teeth to pay for our college education? And who borrowed from all over the world to give us a family?" We immediately understood that our parents are getting older day by day, and now life is better, but usually do their own thing, a busy, they left their parents on the side. Big brother is trying to give us a wake-up call, no matter how busy we are, we can't forget the gift of our parents' upbringing, and we have to think about our aging parents even if we are busy, so we have a Thanksgiving Day in our family.

The other day, our family Thanksgiving Day came again, we siblings "dragged" parents "out" of the house, to the mall to choose clothes for them. The oldest sister, who is usually very cheerful, became "nagging" on this day. She said one moment that the cuffs of the clothes are thin, and the next moment that the shoes are not trendy enough, the new clothes were changed one after another, and the second sister kept saying to the shopkeeper to bring the latest model of senior clothes. The seriousness of the selection of clothes, all out of love for parents. After buying clothes, we went out for a walk with my parents and went to the park. I made my parents strike a funny pose, and when they weren't looking, I "clicked" and took a picture, which made the whole family laugh. When we were tired, we found a leisurely place to sip tea and coffee and spend quality time with our parents.

On this warm Thanksgiving Day, each of us siblings cooked a dish for our parents. The kitchen was busy, the elder brother cooked a sweet and sour chrysanthemum fish, the second brother fried a plate of chicken fillet, the third brother steamed a bowl of pork, and the elder sister and the second sister also made their special dishes. I'm not much of a cook, but I had to do my filial duty and cooked a big bowl of sea rice soup. Our siblings, one chopstick for each of us, all competed to give our parents dishes. I ladled a spoonful of the soup into my mother's mouth, and she took a sip and said, "I forgot to put salt in it, but it's a token of your appreciation!" When my brother and sister heard this, they stuck their tongues out at me and the room erupted in laughter.

Our family set up this Thanksgiving Day to always bury the kindness of our parents in our hearts and give back to them with selfless love.
