Mitigation of Addiction

Fundamental Emotional Regulation

Let The Light You Hold Within, Shine For All To See

I have been on my journey through addiction recovery since 2018, which at first I did not take all that seriously, I traded one addiction for another on many occasions and when that did not appease my senses any more, I turned to others substances. I am now fully conscious and aware of the generational impact that Substance misuse has had on not only me as a person, but on my entire family.

We learn things as children through observation, and experience, and I learned at a very young age that if life gets stressful it's ok to end the day with alcohol and other substances, my initial addiction was to highly addictive and unhealthy sweets and processed foods. My addiction later started with substances which I now in many ways wish I never would have touched at all. My addictive mentality stemmed more from curiosity or so I thought, than from a genetic predispositionrs of processing through the past, and healing the scars left from old wounds, I am now much more educated on not just addiction recovery, but psychological recovery as well.,

While not everyone possesses a dual diagnosis, I feel it is becoming more prominent in the world, for one reason I feel above all else, and that in my opinion is the inability to properly and in a healthy manner, process and regulate emotions. I have for the last 5 years since losing a brother a mother and a wife to addiction been investing the time, and the effort into my own recovery, and taking in knowledge that does not only pertain to that specific area, but also crosses borders of spiritual concepts which I truly never realized I was missing in my life.

Life is very fluid and seperating one area of expertise from another in relation to treating an individual that suffers from really anything in my opinion, is ultimately not the best way to treat mental illness, or addiction. I became a dually diagnosed after hitting substances very hard after losing so many people I loved, for an entire year after losing the last person I never wanted to lose. The resulting ramifications of my choices transmuted into Schizophrenia, due to the fact I was trying to escape my pain so intensely by taking more and more substances into my body, which resulted in a state of psychiatric fragmentation.

I now realize through looking back, that all of that unnecessary heartache that stemmed from such impulsive and irresponsible choices could have been avoided, if I would have processed the emotions I was going through, and learned at that time to regulate emotions that arise as they arise. When we repress emotional pain, and push it down so deeply into the depths of our subconscious that we consciously forget about it, it does not go away, it festers and becomes more and more toxic as time goes by.

New Scientific and psychological understanding are beginning to understand that repressed emotional trauma can actually result in many of the physical health challenges and mental health challenges that seem to be dominating the greater majority of the population. Emotions are fluid, they are meant to flow, not through acts of impulse but through conscious understanding of what is causing the emotion, and how you can process it naturally, instead of numbing it with whatever unhealthy coping mechanism is utilized.

Once I truly embraced this concept and began to implement emotional regulatory modalities into my every day life, I can't tell you how drastically my life went from living in a state of almost constant fear, to living in a state of constant inner peace, regardless of whatever external events may be transpiring at the time. Using techniques such as heart coherence breathing, present centered attention and mindfulness, while seemingly very simple, have had some of the most profoundly substantial benefits I have ever experienced on my quality of life.

I feel with my entire being, that if emotional regulation techniques and the capacity for honest and open emotional processing were taught to todays youth at the fundamental level, their lives could very potentially be void of the traps that the inability to process emotions can cause to manifest in ones life. Learning to be in tune with yourself is where learning should start, because health in my opinion is one of the, if not the most important aspects of anyone's life.

Dr Joe Dispenza has been doing groundbreaking research into coherence, mindfulness, meditation and the implementation of high vibrational emotional states, and the research is showing that when we are living in a state of a higher vibrational emotion, such as compassion, gratitude, hopefulness, or any other number of positive emotions, the body begins to heal, I highly suggest looking into his work so you can experience the fruits of his efforts for yourself.

Now that I have learned to harness my emotional energy and have processed so much of what I used to numb, I am living what feels like a dream compared to the life I used to live. Don't be afraid to take a step back from many of the worlds distractions, and return the focus to yourself, and your own healing, because when one person learns to emotionally regulate, they act as an energetic stabilization point in the morphogenic field, which makes it easier for others to develop the same emotional regulatory processes.

Utilize compassion, understanding and kindness in all that you do, and lets all work together as a species to make this world the paradise I truly believe it can become. It's not too late to turn the tides.

Brightest Blessings.
