If you're a woman who doesn't understand how men think or what they're "about," you can mistakenly believe that all men want a good female to love and ultimately settle down with.

Although love is as vital to men as it is to women (and sometimes more so), he desires something else more sincerely and passionately.

What exactly is it? Maybe some sex? A excellent but incorrect response!

What guys desire more than love (and more than anything else) is RESPECT, which most men are ignorant of and can't even articulate as a need.

Before he can think about love, he has to be RESPECTED by others. However, he is unaware of this.

He is nearly completely unconscious of his tremendous desire for respect since no one ever speaks about it and there is no hint in his life that may alert him of it (most of the time).

Most guys, however, learnt through competing against other boys in school when they were young that being able to accomplish objectives and obtain abilities in anything, whether it be a sport, a difficult or risky activity, or being braver or wittier than others, earns them respect from others.

Only when he feels competent enough that others respect him will he have time to think about other things, such as love.

As a woman, you must recognize that disrespecting your guy will never win his heart. So, whether it's a little joke about something he's not good at or a critique hurled by a wife to her husband of many years, if the woman isn't cautious, the guy will feel that she doesn't respect him, affecting his capacity to trust in her love.

This will happen if her tone of speech conveys disdain, as if she no longer feels he is capable of caring for himself without her help.

That doesn't imply you should treat him with child gloves or never reprimand him if he makes a mistake. After all, he's meant to be a little tougher than a lady, capable of taking the rough with the smooth and enduring criticism. He has to take it like a man!

Avoid, at all costs, a manner that says "you're inept" via your body language or tone of voice.

Pay attention to your tone of voice and the words you use, and show him the respect he deserves.

If you do this, he will sense your true affection for him and will open up to you. He will believe that you accept him as a man, which indicates that you can accept his love. So he'll hand it over to you!

So, if you want to make sure that you and your boyfriend value each other in the way you talk and conduct, start by respecting him. He will respect you back, which is the ideal basis for a love relationship!

To summarize, I'll leave you with some pointers on how to improve your relationship with your guy.

Inform him that it is OK if he makes a mistake. Every guy has a small kid within who forgets not to leave the toilet seat up or say the wrong thing to his buddies.

He also has a keen mind and a short attention span, but keep in mind that you are his partner, not his mother. It's not your responsibility to nag him if he does anything wrong.

If he makes a mistake, speak to him gently about it and reassure him that it's acceptable.

This tells him that you support him and embrace him totally, even if he makes mistakes now and again.

He will be inspired to become a better guy for you once he realizes you understand him.

Love you
