Magnificent Butterscotch

Her flow was beyond

By Jay LeTron DobbinsPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

I lit the fireplace on a cool subtropical evening as the booth gave way to a lovely San Francisco view! Her eyes told the story, but me being here was all too much of a dream.

The candle struggled to maintain the table as the slight wind cause a repeated flicker! She told me that her favorite band was in town for one night only, but I didn’t want to disturb the mood!

The dessert came first in such an unusual fashion! The server looked at me and made a gesture with his eyes as if it was her idea. She started to smile and the temperature started to rise! I was ready to end dinner and check out the band without a second thought!

I kindly took her pinky finger and interlocked it with mine and started to look in her eyes! This was a dangerous idea because the human mind can only take so much beauty!

Needless to say, as the night goes on, she continues to tell me about this band named, butterscotch! She told me that they play in the most unusual spots and for one night only!

She bit her bottom lip and leaned in closer to describe the band. “The band’s symbol is a flower made out of butterscotch candy, dipped in ice. A local band with a neo soul style. The lead string is from Hayward and the vocalist is from Chad!” It appears that this group was from all over and I watched her eyes light up as she continued to describe the flow of the band. “Oh!” As she leaned back to describe me about the pianist from Germany and the drummer from France, “they play with a melody that has no limitation! Listening to them is like watching water flow down a bed of rocks in a open stream! Just peaceful!”

I held the door as we made way to our Rideshare and gently guided her towards the car! She game me a comforting look! A look of ease as if she just placed me in charge of all security of the night’s forthcoming events!

The setup was small and personal, my favorite venue because the large spots take away from the intimacy. The band started to play and she got closer and laid her head on my shoulder. She gave a quick sniff and said, “Tom Ford” and gave a quick and gentle soft kiss before placing her head back on my shoulder blade.

Butterscotch started to play and the room came to silence with the attentive ear! My eyes never saw such a great joy over a woman’s face! Her way was at ease and her mind was safe! Her touch gave comfort and she said so many things to me without saying a word.

I gave stare at her beautiful lips and tried not to get lost in her lovely eyes for the countless time in the same night. However, the task definitely defeated me minutes at a time throughout the hour.

The music continued to play, but I couldn’t hear a sound because her beauty cast all things out! Yeah, I was a fool from leaving the rooftop with early dessert, but her eyes gave me no choice. Her voice played arresting officer to my heart and her hands gave death to my motion as my motor skills faded away from her simplest touch!

The night took submission to butterscotch as they continued to marvel the crowd with their easy melting melodies! Call me a fool, call me lucky! Yet call me anything at the present moment, but unhappy!
