Emily woke up to a blank slate. She had no memory of who she was, where she was or how she got there. Panic set in as she tried to remember even the simplest of things, but nothing came to mind. Emily tried to get up, but she felt dizzy and weak. She decided to lie back down and focus on her breathing.

After a few moments, Emily slowly got up and took a look around. She was in a small room, with plain white walls and no windows. There was a small table beside her bed with a glass of water and a piece of paper on it. Emily picked up the piece of paper and read it. It read:

"Emily, you are safe. Please do not be alarmed. You have been in an accident and suffered a concussion. The doctors say that you may have temporary memory loss. We will do everything we can to help you regain your memory. Please stay in the room until we come to get you."

Emily was relieved to know that she was safe and not alone. She tried to remember anything about her past, but her mind was blank. She decided to focus on the present and wait for the people who left the note to return.

After what felt like hours, the door opened, and a young woman entered the room. She introduced herself as Dr. Smith, a neurologist. She explained that Emily had suffered a head injury in a car accident and that her memory loss was temporary. Dr. Smith then started to ask Emily a series of questions to gauge the extent of her memory loss.

Emily was surprised to discover that she couldn't remember anything about her past. She couldn't even remember her own name. Dr. Smith assured her that it was normal and that her memories would return in time.

Over the next few days, Emily underwent several tests, but there was no sign of improvement. Dr. Smith suggested that Emily try to engage in activities that may trigger her memory. Emily started to read books, watch movies, and listen to music. She hoped that something would trigger a memory, but nothing came.

Frustrated and determined, Emily decided to take matters into her own hands. She asked Dr. Smith to let her leave the room and explore the hospital. Dr. Smith was hesitant at first, but she finally agreed. Emily roamed the halls, hoping that something would trigger a memory. But still, nothing came.

One day, while she was walking in the garden, Emily saw a man sitting on a bench. She felt a strange connection to him, and for some reason, she felt like she knew him. Emily walked up to him and introduced herself. The man's name was Jack, and he was a patient at the hospital. Jack was friendly, and they started talking.

As they spoke, Emily felt a strange sense of familiarity. She couldn't explain it, but she felt like she had known Jack for a long time. They exchanged phone numbers, and Emily went back to her room. That night, Emily had a dream about Jack. In the dream, they were walking in a park, holding hands. Emily woke up feeling happy, but confused. She couldn't understand why she had dreamt about Jack.

The next day, Emily went to visit Jack. They talked, and Emily felt like she was getting closer to unlocking a piece of her past. Suddenly, as they were talking, Emily remembered something. She remembered that she was a journalist and that she had been working on a story before the accident. She didn't remember what the story was about, but it was a start.

Emily was overjoyed to have remembered something. She went back to her room and started to write down everything she remembered. She wrote
