Opposite
Once upon a modern time in a university that I am not going to mention, there was a girl. Her name was Mary and she was someone you could describe as a sunshine, but her close friends would say that she had a good personality. In a way, she was an optimist and always willing to help others, not to mention that she was always following the rules. Mary was a good girl but her boyfriend was a jerk. No kidding. He was a jerk, and not in the way that he did one thing wrong—no, he's not that kind. He was the kind of guy that did everything wrong and, yes, I am gonna make you hate this guy for plot reasons. Anyway, the jerk—I mean John—is just the worst, but the story is not about him...well, at least for now. Here's where the story actually begins: Mary's usual routine starts in the morning with a really annoying alarm that is her phone, and after turning it off every five minutes for half an hour, she finally wakes up for a quick shower, a nice coffee, and a heavy breakfast. Mary is finally ready to leave for her first class. In the afternoon, she meets up with her friends in the cafeteria to discuss what the club will do on the weekend. Quick note: her club is called "The Weekend Activities" and, of course, she is the president.

Horrible First Date
I'm like a good majority of this current generation by trying a dating app like Tinder or POF (Plenty of Fish, if you don't know what that means), and not all of guys I met on them were horrible, but there was one on POF that was the worst I've ever encountered. A few of the reasons why I decided to try a dating app are because I'm usually busy with work, I tend to be very shy, meeting new people does make me nervous sometimes, and it seemed like the easiest and best option for me.

#MyWorstDate: High School, Snow, and Jellyfish
My worst date was my very first date. Late to the game of understanding social cues in how to speak to boys and grasping any idea on how to manage a boy “like liking” me, my first date didn’t happen until I was a 16-year-old sophomore in high school. Jittery and anxious, I had found out that this boy had somehow developed feelings for my awkward, shy self. Memory fails to recollect how I found out about his intent to take me on a date, but I remember glancing at him in the school hallways and receiving sporadic text messages from him on my Samsung flip phone. I had never been better at T9 text messaging. All of this was happening before I grew out of this awkward stage, so I was ecstatic, but probably more nervous than anything, when I knew I was finally going on my first date.

Days
Day One(Jan. 10th) Sometimes you get so sad that you find it hard to cry. It’s not even pain anymore. Instead, the pain turns into emptiness. That emptiness engulfs you and fills that once loving heart with a sickening void. I have to force myself to cry sometimes because it’s the only way to find temporary release. Every night when I cry, I feel calmed until I wake up the next morning and the first thought in my head is about him. The feelings reset and the disgust fills me once again.

The Love Drug
It all began the middle of my 6th grade year. I had gone to this amazing Christian Youth Event called Fusion 3D. It was here that I met... him. He was one of my "boyfriends" (cough cough crush who I wasn't allowed to date) best friends. He was handsome and a total bad boy; every 13 year old girls' dream! I had met him before that night since we practically grew up together but this was different. He was different. He was cuter, more dashing, and all the girls wanted to be with him. I was the lucky one that he caught in his net. He started his trap by flirting with me when I was with my boyfriend. Luckily my observant boyfriend was not-so-observant. This gave me a chance to create my fairytale romance. A damsel in distress who met a dashing villain. Of course my "fairytale" didn't begin quite yet but this was a start. My "boyfriend" decided to break my heart towards the end of 7th grade because he has fallen for my friend instead. Not only did he break my heart but his new girlfriend, that he left me for, found me later at school had asked for my PERMISSION to date him.

Now that we have been to the past, we realize the future is a much better place. We were different. We never held hands because we didn’t prefer the moist uncomfortable connection. I have never been lucky in love; I chalk it up to mainly something wrong with my face — maybe too big of a nose, or my hair just hates to stay in place despite the constant brushing. Maybe there is something truly wrong with my personality. But whatever it is, the fact remains that I have never been one to dabble in romance.

The Worst Date That Didn't Happen
#MyWorstDate "Women's worst fear for a blind date with a man is that he'll kill her. Men's worst fear is that the woman will be fat." I've seen a few variations on this statement on the social media sphere. And though using "studies show" as the first two words of a meme often doesn't mean there was a study, I believe it. Though as a lesbian, it doesn't apply to me. Could that cute young lady I matched with on Tinder be a rapist or murderer? Yeah, it's possible. But it's not the fear that repeats itself over and over again in my head before I set out to meet her. That would be, "What if she doesn't show up without an explanation?" Not because it's a worst-case scenario, but because it's a likely one that has made me feel like shit when it's happened.

Grindr and Pets Birds Don’t Mix Well
So I had just turned 18 and I had been using Grindr (a gay hookup app) just to peruse and look before I was of legal age, but now that I was old enough, I wanted to give it a real try. I was looking at and talking to some guys but there was one guy who caught my attention. He was a good looking guy (at least in his pictures). I sent him a message not expecting a response right away, but to my surprise he responded in 30 seconds.
